Hail damage !!!!

Well it stormed here early this morning and since my truck doesn't fit in my garage it was outside. Golf ball size hail hit it and now I have major dings all over truck. I've never seen it hail that long and that big. I don't know much about body work, how do they go about taking out the dings. Think I will at try to get a new hood put on...maybe a srt 10 hood. First time I've turned in a claim to my insurance company, wish me luck.

Oh also my wife's car got hit too.

That sucks and even worse you gotta turn it into insurance. Your damage probably justifies it but one time I had a thief break a window out of my truck and put a dent in the door doing $600 worth of damage. It would have been worth my while to eat that one and pay out of pocket to get fixed. My rates skyrocketed after turning something minor like that in...

Sorry to hear about that, hail really makes a mess out of things. Good luck with the insurance.

Typically , acts of GOD do not cause insurance rates to go up. I sure hope not at least. In the last month I have had a $3500 flood claim on the house, and a $1500 wind claim on my auto! Boy am I glad January is over! LOL

And with the thin metal on these, your truck probably looks like a big golf ball.

Good luck with the insurance Co.

Yep it sure does look like a big golf ball. My deductible on comprehensive is only $200 so it is definitely going to be worth my while to have the Insurance company take care of it. I can laugh about it now, but earlier I felt like throwing up.

most hail repair these days is paintless- they just 'massage' the dents out from the underside. my buddies' wife had her car totaled by insurance from hail damage last year, as there was major water damage that occured after the windows blew out.

as chipmonk said, it is mostly paintless dent repair. if you get a good guy, you'll be amazed at what they can do! just check their work out beforehand and try to get references. because i unfortunatly have seen what a bad paintless guy can do also. it's the perfect time to replace that hood if you were thinking about it. you can apply of the damages from the current hood to purchasing a new one. get a few independant estimates also. don't just accept what the insurance co. offers. you can negotiate with the good companies, with estimates in hand. when we lived in san antonio 8-10 years back, we had a bad strom roll through and produce grapefruit sized hail! the local car dealerships had some really good "hail sales". they about had to give the vehicles away!

Been through that Hail damage run through with the insurance company. As an act of God, it should not raise your rates. Now that you are over the sick feeling, time for that SRT-10 hood if you want it!!

Thanks for the replies and the show of support in my time of need. Dropped I will PM you with my info. I will be flying up north Monday so I won't be back until 24th. Adjuster is supposed to come by and check vehicles within 2 days. I have Farm Bureau Ins. When I get back I hope to have things rolling. I might have my wifes car done first to check the quality of the work.

Couple things... if it didn't bust your windows they'll probably be able to get the dents out with paintless dent removal (that's how it worked on my 04). Also, make sure your adjuster gets the plastic parts like cowl, bumper tops, and mirrors. Look at them closely and I bet they have little divits in them . If you can live with it they'll eventually pop out on their own if you want to avoid some expense.

Also, i wouldn't hold your breath for that new hood, but who knows you might get lucky.
