H46-Steering Linkage Recall
H46-Steering Linkage Recall
My truck is part of the Steering Linkage Recall. Does anyone know if Dodge is required to replace all of the steering parts? The letter says:
"Chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect the steering linkage on your truck and replace steering linkage component(s) if required. The inspection will take less than ½ hour. If linkage replacement is required, the work will take an additional ½ hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on service schedules."
Does this mean they can just look at my truck and say nothing needs replacement, Have a nice day?
Any help before I take it in would be appreciated.

i know i have to get mine looked at for this reason. i don't have any problems that i know of but mine is also affected by the recall and i don't want my steering to get messed up while driving down the road.
Just mention that on a few occasions you experienced uncontrollable shaking of the steering assembly while driving down the road (Death Wobble) and if they check the service bulletins they should replace all your steering components to the new heavy duty ones. Thats all I need3ed to say and it was done.
I had death wobble and complained. Of course they had never heard of it. I showed them the TSB, and they read it closely and said I should air my tires up.
The bad parts came out in the late years.... I'm thinking 08... so if you read the recall, you MAY have the bad parts if your truck has had service where the parts have been replaced.
Mine has the good parts.
