I had the suction cup kind in mine. I took the rear seat out of the truck for more space, and ended up removing the suction cups from the gun holders and just screwing them to the rear wall of the cab. Work great. There's a benelli SBE in mine right now.

Check out cabelas for some options.

Consider yourselves lucky. If you drove thru my neighborhood with a gunrack, my guess is by the time they pulled you over, they'd have contacted the swat team and you'd be staring down about 20 guys with their fingers on AR-15 triggers just waiting for you to make a wrong move, like sneezing or something. And don't have a cell phone in your hand either.... they've killed and claimed it "looked" like a gun. Chicago is more like **** Germany when it comes to gun control.
Sorry... just had to rant...

I'd like to put one of the overhead ones, but no structure for attachment. I guess the rear window type will have to do. I just think that the rear window is too much of an advertisement for trouble. I have a headache rack and have been thinking about making some kind of a plate for it that would block out the rear window.

I have also been eyeballing the space behind the rear seat, and maybe some type of a bracket could be fabricated to attach a rack? It would be a good out of sight place.

Most cities do not like gun racks with guns on them. Besides, if you left the truck somewhere for 2-3 minutes, you'd find a busted window and no guns.

I want to live somewhere where everyone carries guns, and you don't have to worry about getting your truck jacked. And I want to be able to walk out my back door of my house and not be able to see anything but my land and wildlife. I live in the wrong part of this country. Just a small Christmas wish...

My buddy has a gun rack in his Dodge that attaches to the back of the front seats and has slots for three rifles/shotguns. I think he bought it at Cabela's or Sportsmans one of the other.

Than come on over to E. Kentucky! Woods, cattle, farms, and gunracks in every other truck, heck wenever lock our doors and my keys stay in my ignition! Only drawback would have to be lack of anything remotely close to a good paying job!

I'm stationed out here in San Diego and know exactly what you mean about the whole SWAT thing and getting shot over your cell phone...but I am from Independence, VA...a place that you can drive through and miss. Everybody knows your name and most EVERYBODY with a truck has a rifle or shotgun in their back glass! I like the fella from Kentucky, leave my keys in my vehicles, whether they cost 50k or not and don't need to lock any doors. You say that if you leave your truck for a few minutes with guns advertised in your back glass that they will be gone by the time you get back...back where I come from, you knock the window out of somebody's truck, you have a coon hound to deal with before you get those mitts on the gun you just HAD to have...my dogs go EVERYWHERE with me when I go somewhere! There are also NO jobs that pay worth anything, but the people and cost of living out there make all the "downfalls to most" PERKS to me ...I miss home

Here in Alaska, I daresay a high percentage of vehicles on the road have at least one gun on board, often concealed. This has been perfectly legal for several years now, with no concealed carry permit required, subject to a few common sense rules (no felons, not on school grounds, tell the police officer if you are pulled over, etc.). Contrary to those who predicted widespread mayhem at the time the law was liberalized, it has largely been a non-event. I have come to believe that people are inclined to behave more politely when they realize that anyone might be armed. Of course safety is always rule #1, especially when it comes to children. Common sense tells us that no one should ever have a loaded firearm in a vehicle where kids might possibly be able to access it. By the way, there are still places in this country where it is possible to have a good job and live a semi-rural lifestyle. It's all a matter of priorities.

I've dreamed about living in Alaska. So peaceful and awe-inspiring. And Independence, VA sounds like a pretty nice place also. I've talked to my wife too many times to remember about getting away from the city... buying some acreage.... She agrees, someday, just not today... Until then I'll continue to dream...

I had a friend that moved here from a very small town a couple of years after I moved here from Kansas City. At the time Wichita was about 280,000 people. I grew up locking everything. He never locked anything and used to leave his keyes on the floor of his car. He was big, 6'3" about 230 and an all around athlete, football, wrestling, baseball, basketball..
One day I asked him why he left his keyes in his car, his answer was, "I figured they would take a look at the size of the owner and not mess with it." I just laughed and told him, once the car was running, it didn't matter how big he was anymore, he wasn't big enough to stop a 3000lbs car.
It's all a differrence in perspective, I prefer not testing the honesty of people, he didn't even think of it that way.
He had a very attractive wife and used to get P.O'd at the groups of young punks that would oggle her when they went to the shopping mall. I only went there if I had a good reason to. The mall has since upped security and runs groups of kids out if they just hang out and don't shop.
