If he just wants to get rid of it, I bet a dealership would give him $22,000 for it.

Sounds like a scam to me.

It says "this listing is restricted to pre-approved bidder or buyers only". What does that mean?

If I was 20 min away, I'd go check it out. Heck, pm me. Go look at it. If it's legit and has a clear title, I'll fly out tomorrow morning and buy it! (I'm serious by the way)
Doesn't seem right at all though.

That usually means that he is listing it for $22k so he dosn't pay as much for listing fees/taxes... whatever. He probably wants the down payment plus the selling price.

Wow, I say it is a scam. he says the seller will pay shipping. However he says HE is selling it due to relocation. Here is his response:

Hello,

Thank you for inquiring for my car, that i have listed on eBay.I am in Maine,St Agatha. The Buy It Now price is $22,500.00 as stated in the auction listing.I am in Maine,St Agatha.I am looking to sell due to relocating. The shipping/handling fees will vary depending on your location and will be covered by the seller. You will inspect the car before the payment will be made. The car is in perfect condition and it has not even a scratch or damage, it has not been involved in a accident, clear title,TRANSFERABLE warranty, which will be honored at any dealer and it is a US registered car. The paint is in fantastic condition as in the trim grill, bumpers etc. The wheels are in "as new" condition with no abrasions and the tires are in excellent condition (10-15% usage).
The interior of this vehicle has no tears, burns, nor worn spots on the seats or anywhere else, smoke free(I don't smoke). The car drives and looks brand new and has an accident free history.
I am requesting a $9,500 refundable deposit at the begining of the shipping and the balance to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are not 100% content with the car you will ship it back on my expense to get your deposit back.I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the art vehicle and you will have no reason not to be content with it.
This is a large purchase and I would like to use a third party for this transaction as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use eBay as third party.
First you will pay the downpayment to eBay and the reminder you can send it directly to me or trough eBay also.
Please note that eBay will hold your deposit of $9,500 until you will confirm that you received the car and you transfered the title into your name.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address,eBay ID so I can register the transaction with eBay asap.
...waiting for your fast answer,

Thanks.

Uh, yah its a scam. The broken english is your first sign. Just flag that auction so Ebay can delete it.

And the biggest clue

"We will use eBay as third party."

I am trying to figure out how to report that to Ebay. The fact that he is e-mailing outside of EBAY for this transaction and how shady it all seems...

Sounds like a good way to get rid of 9500.00 pretty quick....

If you paid the 9500.00 what would you do if no truck arrived, I dont see how anyone could make a deal like that without going in person and have it checked out, or at least hire a bonded car broker check it out.

Money comes in too hard to let it fly away too easy...

Yeah, anything that involves using a site such as ebay as a third party is going to be a scam. He could take that to the dealer and sell it to them for more than 22,500.

I take that back, maybe it's not a scam. It does say he will accept cash in person so I'm leaning more towards stolen now.

Rip Off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Standard ebay scam letter that is why it is called a car!!! They use the same write up and insert it into multiple vehicle auctions. They are only looking for fools to send them a deposit. Think about it $9500 x 1-3 fools = good months pay for them only takes a couple (fools) and their only cost is a few hundred in listing fees. If you really want to see the scams look in the kubota tractor listings they are there all the time the real interesting part is when you look at their other items for sale 100-200 of the same low hour used tractor shipped FREE any where in the world BUY IT NOW!!!!!! I have turned them in with as many as 250 items listed!!! AS TOP SAID LOOK LIKE IT SMELLS LIKE IT AND IT IS
