Thanks for all the info, I should have searched TSB's. The thing is I hope this fixes it, and that I will not need to make multiple trips to the dealer for the same repairs.

I just got interested in this since I'm at 35,100 miles right now. I'm torn (pun intended) between leaving this alone and rushing to push for the improved design. Mine rubs a little and the weatherstrip is slightly abraded but not torn. Is that enough of a failure to get this fixed?

 

There is a tsb out for this problem if you decide you want it fixed, i would get a copy and bring it with you, that weatherstripping is only going to get worse.

I stopped by a dealer near my office at lunch. The service manager said that if there's any damage at all he'll get me the new ones. Now I just need to schedule the appt in the next 900 miles.

 

Just called a few dealers near me and they said no way if you have more than 36k miles. Too bad for me since I now have 45k. Oh well the part only costs $15.

 

Does anyone have the part # for the new seal with the knoch ctut in it?

My 05 has that problem too less than 6k on it and the driver's side is gettin tore up good now..

 

The part number in the TSB must be out of date, as the design released under that TSB is at least one, if not two or three design iterations old. I had mine replaced in fall 2004, and the replacement was a lower profile weather strip, with one less strip. It still rubs and has more wind noise on the highway. The new part with the notch looks like the original three strip quiet design, but with clearance for the door "wing".

The old number probably supercedes, but I rather not find out by ordering that number and getting some old stock that was lying in a warehouse somewhere.

So, can anyone confirm the part number of the strip with the notch for the door? Left and right sides?
