Exclamation Front Door Weatherstrip!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was wondering if anyone has noticed thier weatherstrip at both front doors. Was cleaning my truck the other day, and had noticed where the weatherstriping is getting chewed up by the front doors. The location is the same on both sides, right where the door sheet metal curves by the side mirrors. If so is there a fix...sure they could replace the weatherstrip, but this would be an ongoing problem. I work for Benz and if we had a problem like this, they would be buying cars back left and right.

Took mine to the dealer for this just today. They said they would only fix it if your still under 36,000 mile warranty. I had 2 dealer's tell me that. That's messed up since I'm at 98,000.

Your dealer will fix it as long as you are under warranty, I'm on my 3rd set now.

There's an updated seal that has a notch for the door to clear. They replaced mine the second time with the updated one and no problem since. Do a search if you want and I'm sure you will find some reading on it, this site is where I learned of the updated seal...LCH

How many mile's did you have on your truck at the time of repair. Like I said, 2 dealer's told me "no". Guess I could try calling DC and see what they say.

As long as you are inside the 36/36K warranty they pretty much HAVE to replace it for you. It is a very known problem. Mine are getting worn but haven't cut the whole way through yet, so I'm going to wait a while and make sure I get the updated seals. I only have 10K on my truck right now so it isn't that big of a deal to wait.

I had to tell my dealer about the updated seal. The first replace was around 10,000 and the next was around 15 or so with the updated ones. These updated seals have been out for awhile, there's no reason for the dealer to be using the old ones unless they're just trying to get rid of them or they don't know any better. Leave the old ones long enough and I could see it rubbing through the paint on the corner of the door. LCH

I'd call, your truck is actually newer than mine just has more miles, doesn't seem fair that you have to pay for the new seals because you didn't know.
If I read your post right you said you have 98,000 mi. You must run over the road or something. I could see the dealer balking on something that is a worn part related to the miles but to get that many miles on one that soon you I'd say you have to keep the door shut and drive LOL . you may have opened your doors less than I have. Really I would call, you don't have anything to loose by trying...LCH

Why can't they just get it right it seems like they just throw the trucks out there to us and then let us deal with the problems. It is definitely a problem that won't go away
