flatbed pics

OK guys,
I need your help!! I am getting ready to start the build on my flatbed for the new 08. I need some pics of your beds to give me some ideas and especially if they have any COOL features pics of those.
My brother and I are going to build it but would like a very custom look. any tidbits of advise would be welcome too. We have built one other flatbed, and a few trailers but this one needs to look SHARP!!

Also, what do you suggest for side racks. My last truck had wood sideracks that stepped down to a singe 2x4.

Thanks
Chris

Flad bed

Chris - below are a couple of pictures, and I will take some more. The bed was custom built by the 1st owner and he did a great job with making it look like a purchased bed versus a hill billy with a torch & welder.

Please note I have removed the ladder rack by the cab but converted it to still mount on the truck if need be. Also, the rear ladder rack is removeable and in the pictures below is located right by the front ladder rack.

Lastly, I have added some more lights versus the pictures below and I am in the process of removing the rear bumper for a diamond plate replacement.

I hope to get the pictures to you shortly.

Scott

On a single wheel truck, I like the sides can fold down to make the bed 8 foot wide.
A good headache rack with tail lights and good white light for working at night. A plug in for my spot light when night shooting. Tie downs and quality boxes. More show than go perhaps but if you are building this bed can you put in a ramp shelf up the center of the bed?

Good luck

I would love to do this!! I have seen it done on one other truck and it was kick butt!!! Extra 12 volt outlets?? That is a cool idea! I may have to come up with something for that

Flat bed

Chris - I put flush white back up lights in the headache rack and control them with the cargo light. It was tricky getting the wire to come out the bottom of the rear cab but it is possible.

Also, I put a high amperage quick connect in the rear of the truck for use with winches or the small crane that I designed to bolt onto the rear of the bed.

Lastly, the guy that built the bed put stake pockets verticle as well as horizontal which will allow me to bolt on 6" extentions on either side so I can haul 2 snowmobiles. Lastly, he has a 2" by .25" flat bar running along the bed which works great for tie downs. I thought about adding the under bed tie downs that you see on semi's but carring the ratchet straps is just as easy.

I hope to get some pictures for you this weekend.

my last flatbed had the sraps around the outside of the bed. They were awsome for straps. I also had dual 6 inch extensions for 2 sleds which is why I am going to another flatbed as soon as I get it built.

I have been looking VERY hard at the Bradford builts but can't get over the metal deck and it being black. I am going to ask about line-x maybe keeping the deck cooler. Maybe someone has some insight into this.

Flat bed

Chris - In the last pictures was when the truck was painted by the dealership with some super cheap black paint which tended to peal at 70 mph. The original owner had painted the bed silver which probably would have looked pretty good. Over the holiday break, I had the bed blasted then had it powder coated super gloss black, I think it looks pretty good.

Regarding carrying two sleds, how did you get them loaded / unloaded?

I have mounted a small crane for this task, in case it is one guy.

Also, did you make an enclosure or just run them on the flat bed with out covers on the sleds / covers on the whole bed?
