I installed the air lift springs and in-cab controller for towing my travel trailer. I run between 60 & 70 psi towing and 10psi empty. I'll never tow without them.

I have had some Firestone Ride-Rites for a few months now and need to install them. My truck is a 2500 quad cab 4x4.
I tow a fiver with an empty pin weight of 1500lbs. It does make my truck tail sag a bit beyond level and makes the headlight aim high. I have neglected installing the bags becasue prior to a new wheel/tire upgrade on the fiver, it was towing nose up to level and did not want to raise the nose any higher.
Now I'm thinking about installing the bags. The directions say to keep a minimum of 5lbs in the bags and I do not use the truck ecept for toiwing the fiver.
So my question is how much, if any will the bags raise the truck rear end with only 5 lbs. I have heard they will help in cross winds but I don't know if I will notice much difference with so little psi in them. I don't want to put in too much air and raise the nose of the trailer as it tows great now that its more level. Any suggestions??? Thanks. PCM

I've had mine since about 2 weeks after getting my truck. They make a world of difference in ride, they also make a greater amount of difference in towing. Would not have a truck without them.

I run 15-20#s empty and vary the pressure depending on the pin weight of the load I'm towing. Average is about 35#'s when towing my GN with a 12-14K load. When towing my 32'x8' GN horse trailer with living quarters I usually run 45#s. Have it at 30#s when pulling the 5th wheel.

My truck sits way higher than stock with the KORE Leveling and the 35" tires. I added a 6" channel sub frame to my 5th wheel to raise it by the much needed 6 inches and then moved the axles under the springs, gained a total of 9"s on the 5th wheels height to clear the bed with room to spare, tows level now.

I love my Ride-Rites. I've had them on the truck for 2 years now without any problems. I had a slide-in, and they helped a LOT! Now, with a 26' toy-hauler (1100lbs tongue weight) they are even better. Try the Ride-Rites with a Hellweg rear sway-bar. The difference from stock is amazing!

I just installed my FIRESTONE Ride-Rites yesterday. The truck is not a daily driver so I have not driven it yet with the new bags.
Today, I ordered Bilstein HD rear shocks. While I didn't really have any complaints about the stock set-up, based on the posts here, I'm expecting a noticable difference.
I take the truck and fiver out in 10 days on a 700 mile round trip. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new set-up works out.

I looked into getting some and found a local dealer selling for about $380 but then looked on e-Bay and you can get them for about $250 IIRC. I will be buying some before I get my 5th wheel, and will go back to e-Bay to buy them!!

Just shy of $250 including shipping, from ebay. I do not have an onboard compressor. They were easy to install. I will test them out net week on a 700 mile round trip. I will be installing the hd Bilstein gas shocks this weekend. pcm

$280 shipped from Keven @ K2 Diesel Performance. He is a SUPER guy to deal with and had the fastest processing time (from time order was placed to time the product was in the mail) I have ever experienced. Every transaction I have had or heard of from him has been nothing short of phenominal.

Are you guys removing the overload spring when you install these, or just adding the bags to supplement the springs? I had thought about removing the overload spring and adding the bage to make the empty ride better, and still have the ability to tow.

I left my overloads. With the air bags, I don't think my overloads have touched the bump-stops. I don't think removing the overload would improve your ride any, because even with only 5psi in the bags (the minimum you need to keep in them), like I said, overloads don't come close to hitting.

Now that I have had my Ride-Rites a few trips with the rv, I will say they are an improvement to the overall ride and handeling with the fiver.
My 2500 sagged just below level with the fiver hitched up making the headlights to high. Now with the bags inflated to just 5lbs psi, the truck is setting level but the fiver is a little nose high.
Te bumper stops were removed, so there is nothing that I am aware of one can do to lower the rear of the truck with the air bags. So it's obvious that the bags to reduce the suspension travel.
I have read and viewed the pix of a post where the leaf spring spacers were removed to reduce the rear height of the truck. However,I do not think that this option will work with the air bags installed. pcm
