Factory Uconnect

Has anyone tried to do or had luck installing the "factory" uconnect? I've search here & on the net & I've only seen 1 guy on a different forum say that he did it & that it was easy.
I know they make aftermarket kit's. Those look like Dog**** to me. So that is NOT an option, even though they are cheaper.

I've got mine working....It is quite sensitive to vocal inflections. If you speak in a normal tone, and remember the commands to make a call, it works very effectively. I wish I had it im the VW the wife drives.

I like it....there are things I'd like to inprove....but I like it & glad I spent the money on it. But, I ordered the truck with it.

How much do they want for it?

HTH

IF I researched everything correct it will cost somewhere around $378.00. That's me installing it.
I think there is basically 3 pieces to it?

1) Rear View Mirror part # 4806228AB
2) Electrical Component Module "Telematics" part # 5064013AH
3) Wiring Harness part # 5089051AB

I have it in my truck, fortunately not installed by me, and the theory of it is great. The reality of it a little different - It takes a while going through the routine, so making a snap call is difficult, and it tends to mishear things, if there is any noise around.. (bearing in mind this is in a modified diesel truck) Some things it just will not understand, so I shout at it, and the menu voice gets stirn...... Tell it to 'F' off and it will.

Thumbs up

I have the Uconnect in my Grand Cherokee and love it. So when I purchased the Ram, I had to have Uconnect. One of the trucks I was considering didn't have it, and my dealer wasn't real enthusiastic about installing it. He said they had done one, and it had taken a lot of time and work. This didn't give me the feeling of confidence I wanted, so I ended up with a truck that already had Uconnect.

Is there a connection existing that goes to the telematic module tucked away somewhere or do you need another wiring part for that connection?

Still working on it when I get a moment or two, but as near as we can tell there needs to either be a jumper cable made to go from the telematics module to the radio or replace the wiring harness that goes in the headliner from the mirror as it looks like there are two part numbers for the different harnesses (phone and non phone)
