please forgive I just don't know what the silencer ring is that everybody eliminates...It must be for good reason

 

Small ring on the filter side of the turbo that keep the turbo whistle noise down but doesn't have an effect either way on performance. Some people like their truck to sound like an 18 wheeler with a lot of turbo squeel others like to leave it in because we have passengers in the truck we would like to talk to.
