DC getting it right

It appears DC is finally listening to it's customers (US). They now include the light package (unders hood & dual visor lights) in the Laredo package.
Of course, that does not do any of us that already own an 03 or early 04 >

My Laramie is well equipped with the light package, Laredo owners may not be so fortunate.

Did you drive a pherd in an earlier life.

Re:DC getting it right

Well if they want to get it right with the HD series.

1. Switch to 19.5" wheels on 2500 and 3500's.
2. Tell goodyear "bl#w me"
3. Use 225-70's on std 4wds and 245-70's on off road models

There are available "20's" for the sport truck crowd on 1500's

For the work truck crowd they went with 17's and an obscure tire size. Hmm why not use a commonplace and readilly available commercial tire size on the version of the ram that gets used by people like a commercial truck. I mean DC picked their engine supplier years ago with the same type of thinking. They style the truck more like a "big rig" equip it with an engine designed and built to be a medium commercial duty diesel engine. Why not go with medium duty commercial shoes on it from the factory?

That would have been awesome. You know why it doesn't happen. The almighty dollar, or lack thereof. If they were smart they would offer them as a factory option. I would have bought them.

I agree. The 17" tire size is going to be a pain.

A salesman told me that they went to the 17 inch rims out of necessity because of the bigger brakes. It may just be sales bs, but there is only about 1/2 inch between the rim and the caliper so maybe not, eh?

That is the truth. The brake rotors are 13.9 inches all the way around, so the only way they could clear them was with a 17" wheel. I'd rather have nicer brakes personally. But like others said above, they could have made a 19.5" rim an option. Personally I am happy with the current tire selections for the 17" wheel, but like anything, more would always be nice.
