Dang Rust

Living on the beach... Truck is rusting up all under it.

Anyone ever get some POR and paint the springs, axles and possibly the frame? Wonder how hard it would be to paint the coil springs and frame mainly.

This isn't a permenant living arraingment so I'd like to protect it.

I'm already washing it almost every week; body, engine, and undercarriage spray.

I used POR 15 on mine this past fall. It was kind of a pain, but I did it a little at a time. So far it seems to be holding up to all of the salt that gets put on the roads here in Illinois.

painting the underneath was one of the first things I done when I bought this truck, it is holding out so far. Plan on doing another coat this spring when the weather is better for the painting. I also did my own undercoating with the spay can stuff I bought from a auto paint store.

Never tried it but someone on on DTR swears by it. I kept the site just in case I wanted to try it. If I remember right it would cost around $100 to do the bottom. http://www.carwell.com/

I've seen advertising for a system that you hook up to your vehicle which produces a small electric charge through the body and frame and is supposed to inhibit rust forming. I can't remember the name of the system but if anyone has it, does it work?

The dealer I go to sells one like this, everyone there says it works great, even the disks have no rust on them. When I get home next week, I will try to get the info, as I am going to get one for my 05.It is about $300 installed. Another guy told me of a system with a sacrifical zinc strip under the hood, does the same thing but about $500 bucks.
