Crazy horn and batteries?

I was sitting in my daughter's house wondering what fool's horn was honking until one of my grandkids came in to let me know it was mine, of course. It would blare a while, then intermittent, then silence, then the same pattern. I'll tell you what, Dodge horns are loud. Especially when you open the hood and stick your head in there. I ended up pulling the fuse. Several days later, my batteries were dead. I charged one, they went dead after a few days. I tried to charge the other and it wouldn't fully charge. They are factory, 6 years old. I looked in the factory manual and did a search on this site. I found no connection. Anyone know if there is any connection (horn signaling low voltage, etc.?) other than the coincidence of time?
