Considering changing to '06

Looking at the '06 dually 4x 1ton. Not sure about another auto or if I'm going manual this time. I only tow 8.5k to 15k about 1800 miles a month. I do head to Mammoth and beyond about 600+ miles a month and occasionally hit Big Bear ( all in Kalifornia ). Thoughts and opinions welcome. The dealer is offering $500 over invoice which puts me around $40k for a loaded (no leather but everything else including Sat. radio) truck. I know this is vague but I'm looking for opinions and "If I had another chance, I would have....." replys. Thanks!

I too have the 48RE and I believe next time I'll get the 6 speed. No complaints with the auto, I just like shifting and I miss it. I also think I'll enjoy towing the 5er more with the manual.

You need the 6sp manual for the towing you do.The extra power and control of the engine is worth the shifting.

$40K for a loaded truck that doesn't include leather !!! That's ludacris. Something sounds fishy to me on that. If $40K is $500 over invoice, that truck better have pretty much all of the options that Dodge offers. There are guys getting loaded Laramie trucks for mid $30K's. Keep shopping around. That deal doesn't sound as good. Also, why not just buy it from them for invoice only ? Drop the whole $500 over thing. There are plenty of people out there getting them for invoice.

There are internet dealers that will sell you a truck for 3% UNDER invoice.

That's what I was looking for. Internet dealer would be fine. I do get lifetime free oilchanges at my dealer but it's a trade off. I have to do all the schedule A and B with them. I have under 50k miles on it and I'm due to have the rear end lube changed for the third time and I think the fuel filters for the second time.

As for options, yep, it was spec'ed with them all. The kids even want the Sunroof but I'm not sure about that one. Even has the foo foo Big Horn or what ever that has the satelite radio deal. We are talking a 4X4 dually diesel. I think the only thing keeping me from being a Laramie is the leather and that's the only thing I still don't think I want. No flames please I'm just not sure about it.

As for the problems with mine, turns out there was a TSB to do with the tranny. We'll see. Pulling the boat is not a problem but the trailer loaded with my Jeep in it and the dirtbikes in the bed, adding a mountain road and 100+ degree heat, puts a little stress on things. I'm supposed to have mine back Monday.

Just to add, I'm considering doing the full ATS tranny deal to mine. That should fix it. Then add the injectors and turbo so I can TOW at about 400 rwhp and about 800+ ftlbs.
