one more.

As far as what I did. We started by lightly sand blasting the frame to clean any rust from it. If you look at the last pic you can kinda see before and after. I did the front end last. As far as painting goes I friend of my that paints over the road trucks for a living taught me a little trick. After the frame is cleaned an blown down start by spraying the frame with a good gloss spray paint and before the paint drys spray over the same area with a can of professional grade rubberized undercoating. This helps to flatten out the undercoating so it's not so rough. In the pics it kinda looks rough but it is alot smoother then it would be if not for the 2 step process. The truck in the pics has 70 or 80 thou on it and it runs up and the roads up here in the great white north. It still looks like it did the day we painted it. I'll post some more pics in my gallery.
Take care ,

That looks great. Did you just use cans of rustoleum gloss black or an automotive paint sprayed out of a gun? Did you cover the truck when you were spraying?

Hey guys,
Thanks! If you looked at the gallery you can see that we take pretty good care of mamma's truck. She loves the thing. As far as the paint goes it was just rustoleum out of a can as well as the Pro grade undercoating. I did not cover the truck but I did have some fans going to pull the fumes out from under the truck. We were in the process of putting the truck back together and it had to be rubbed anyway.
Thanks,
Topper

Hummm... I may have to give this a shot. I was using just some Rustoleum Rust Inhibitor paint from wally world. Where did you get the Rubber undercoating at?

Also do you think using a wire wheel and angle grinder would clean the parts enough to do this? I do not have access to a sand blaster.

A good wire wheel will do a pretty good job it just wont get into the tight spots. I think I got the undercoating from auto zone. Make sure you use the pro grade. It does make a difference.
Good luck,

Is it made by 3M? Or is Pro Grade the brand?

Not sure of the manufacturer but there were 2 cans 1 was pro grade and the other was like shop grade or something like that. I bought both cans and the pro grade was alot better.
