T-boe, I have the cap, does your leak around the windows? Mine does and I can't see how to fix it.

 

Maybe off topic, but night runner lights would look real cool on your rig. That JMHO

Century Truck Cap

 

I had a LEER on my last truck and had nothing but bad dreams and nightmares with it. It didn't fit my 250 AT ALL....plus the windows leaked. Also, the push button release would freeze and rendered itself useless. I took it back and told them I wanted a new one because it didn't fit. It clearly was the wrong cap for the truck. There were times when only one side would actually catch when you would try to close it. All they did was replace the windows (which continued to leak) and after the year warranty, I was screwed.

I may try an Eagle next time if I end up putting a cap on.

 

I drive an '06 lwb quad-cab with an Astro camper shell. Shell is pretty nice, I'm sure it's heavy. Fiberglass, cab high, carpet on the interior and has a couple of fold-down clothes hanging things that are nice when hauling the family and accoutrements.
Empty highway I get around 19 mpg @ 70 mph (I'm a pretty conservative driver). I bought the rig used and have never taken it off so I can't tell you if the mileage would be better, worse or the same but from what I read that is consistant with what other people are getting with an uncovered bed.

Well darn, I guest I'm not as much of a redneck, as I call them a camper shell.

 

I think the caps help mileage as long as they are the style that lines up well with the cab. I know when I put my Leer 100XQ on it helped mileage as it cuts thru the air much better. I believe there was a test done in one of the TDR magazines that proved that point.

Mines lined and has a gun/rod locker inside with duel lights and folding front glass.

 

This is my ARE cap. I bought this model to get the side doors with sliders for my Lab. They leaked a lot, but ARE sent me to another dealer to get them fixed or replaced. In hind sight, I would rather have ordered the model with the sleek looking windows. I can't drive down the highway with these open, and her nose pokes the screen loose. So, I just leave the back open with her tied. But, when I park I open them for her.

I wired the lights inside to come on either with the cargo light switch from in the cab (I removed the cargo light bulb before the cap went on), or with a separate switch inside the cap. I have mercury switches for the doors, but haven't gotten around to installing them. I also have a 12V power outlet in the cap. I had the inside painted black and forwent the upholstery so I can wash it out. The front window folds down to clean the back cab window. The cap works great when we go roughing it in the woods.
