I went to a Smog Only test center on First St. It's located behind the dance studio that's next door to the GMC dealer on First St. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I think it was $60 including the certificate and electronic transfer to DMV. Tell him I was in there last week and referred you and he'll give you $10 off (to get it for $60).

What BS, I'd be saying bye-bye to Colorado . . and Californication . . I grew up there, I left that state in 1976, never looked back at their insane nonsense. With as many diesel trucks that are in CA, let alone those who transport goods into CA, the truck people/owners/industry should revolt against this carp . . the people of CA have NO IDEA how their daily dependence is based on trucks . . maybe the need the truck guys to boycott their state for a month or so . . bet that would be a wakeup call like no other. Are they requiring the diesel trains to also have smog testing?? That would be an interesting event to say the least. And to think, all those in both these states actually elect these morons who appoint even bigger morons and then they give them this kind of control . . DUH !!!!!!!!
What are people thinking??????

Oh they have an idea alright, a screwed up idea. Hear that they won't let older diesel trucks bring goods into the state in a few years? Hear that if you don't have a legible emission label on your rig, it's an automatic $300 fine? (I've seen that one first hand) If your rig is too old, you CAN'T renew the tags? This one is coming, if you don't have "low rolling resistant" tires or side skirts on your trailer, you will be fined. Trucks with the "California Clean Air" decals are being fined for idling even with that decal which means they're allowed to idle. A buddy's speed shop got a huge fine for installing a supercharger on a race car that came and left on a trailer. And those smog cops have a serious god complex but they have no actual authority to write tickets but they do, a majority of these tickets get thrown out when taken to court. This state is whacked. www.killcarb.org for more craziness.

Hello, I have a 06' 2500 in Ca. The smog test it is just a visual for 06' and older from what I understand and have seen. They do plug into the port under dash, I think it's to look for mod's done to the system. You must to have a cat, no programer, and a CARB sticker if you changed the air intake. After 06' I think the rules changed. The bigger liter engine in 07' was because of added smog stuff. The reason for the high plate tag cost in CA. is because (mine was also $623) of the commerical type. All pick-up in CA are listed commerical. Look at the fee's on the DMV notice and you'll see a $257 weight fee, (again for 2500) that the commerical crap. Commerical plates in CA. have only 1 letter, unless personalized, regular plates have 3 letters. What I did was put a shell on the back changed the title and paid only $305 for the tages. That's how you do it.

I had my 04 smogged yesterday, and the place I went to was pretty painless.. I was in and out in 20 minutes. All they did was look under the hood for a minute, crawled under and looked for the cat (didn't notice I had no muffler, or just didn't care), and backed the truck out of the garage. They didn't bother to do a snap test or anything. And I magically "passed", as long as I gave them their $52.00.

I'd just back off my high idle screw. If I turned crazy and moved to CA. But if I got that crazy that fast I'd probably buy a prius, too.

The libs here are cornering the market on unicorn tears, the next fuel source in their mind. Half of them drive Suburbans. Hypocrites.

If the "tax extension" is not passed, our weight fees will be cut in half.

Ken and Mike on KTLA had a petition signing party in Anaheim. The subject was half pay for legislatures because they only work half time. Logical. I didn't follow to see if it gathered the required sigs.
