Moved here due to it's non- Emergency status, and for better chance at an answer.

It's low on freon. Just need a recharge.

My 05 was the same way a few weeks ago..............
Took it in and they replaced the entire compressor (only 7k on the truck).
Sounds like you might have a leak

I just went through this whole situation. I was told both here on the board: Low on freon and the Fin Temp sensor.

Turns out, I was low on freon

Same symptoms you have. It was the first time I had EVER heard of an AC system being LOW on freon and causing it freeze over, but it happened to mine. And, if had not happened to me, I would have told you, you were crazy . BUT, it did happen to me, so I can attest to it. So, first thing I would do is have the level of freon checked. Also, you do a search on this subject, you will find my thread that I started a few weeks back about this very same problem.

Freezes over the condenser? I think you mean the evaporator. The condenser sits in front of the radiator and is usually the first thing that bugs hit after passing through your grill.

If the condenser is freezing up you have a restriction at the point where the ice is forming as it is acting like a fixed orifice at that point.

I am having similar issues with my A/C as well. Mine was blowing cold air on the two driver's side vents and warm air out of the two passenger side vents. I took it in to the dealer two days ago and they said they reset the vent doors and added freon and blue dye to the system. As of yesterday it is doing the same thing again. Only this time when I accelerate, the passenger side vents seem to blow warmer air than the driver's side. Anyone have any idea what would be causing this? I am going to run it through the dealer again on Monday.

They added a dye to the system to pin point any leaks you may have. ounds to me like one of the problems mentioned above, low on freon or Fin Temp sensor. If they added freon yesterday, and the next day doing the same thing, you have a MAJOR leak, which the good thing is will be easy to find. You will see a oily residue around lines, condensor, compressor, drier (bascially look around ALL of your AC components)

Hi, I'm new here and this thread is the reason i joined. My truck is doing the exact same thing, not very cold on passenger side, and the evaporator freezes over blocking almost all flow. It happened all the way out and back on a 10 hour tow over memorial day. Not fun.

Does anyone know how TSB's work? Since i have 45k on my truck it is out of warranty, will dealers do TSB's for free or do you have to pay for them? Just curious.

Thanks,
Brian B.
