I plan on keeping this truck till I don't tow a trailer. Then it will time to trade to something else. Diesel prices will not tell me what to do, life is too short. Yes, might be $4 a gallon soon, I'll just pay it. Maybe the road will have less traffic.

good luck with the toyota, I can say I really think it not going to matter in the price between the two. I will get a whole lot worse before it gets better. they both will be 5.00 a gallon sooner than most think.

Just last year I got rid of my Superduty because of financial reasons and went with an F-150. Just pulling the 18ft boat to the river or the Ranger to the hunting club absolutely killed my mileage and as a result was filling up more often; not to mention more frequent oil changes. Well, that lasted only 7 months before I got my Cummins. I'm holding tight to what I got. The fuel costs a little more but the benefits greatly out weigh that, in my opinion. Good luck with the Yota, my 92 was good to me and served me well. Wish I had it still for a backup vehicle.

Good luck with the truck. However, the way i see it, you are losing. A new Tundra will get you around 16mpg empty and say 10 towing, where as a lot of CTD's get 18 or better empty and say 12 or 14 towing that same load. So that's 12% or so better fuel economy. And gas isn't 12% cheaper than diesel. Plus you have the option to tow more too.

Anyways, good luck.

I think the diesel fuel price was a justification to get a new ride. Nothin' wrong with that. Keeps the economy rolling.

Don't blame ya on that, crossed my mind a few times to get a 1500 or a 2500 gasser.

As far as the prices Ya they are saying it could crack $4 a gallon, sigh,I wish there was a way for me to run off road legit.

They run the prices up becuse they can and no one does anything about it,course Bush sending all that fuel oil to N.Korea does not help.

On the Bio D stuff Ya I thought about that too but from what I have read it cleans your engine out pretty good and can block stuff up with all that gunk braking loose.

That's a good truck; Ford's best gas engine paired with Ford's best automatic. It will last for 500k miles with proper maintenance.

I've crunched the numbers for buying a economy car for my 100-mile daily commute, and it just didn't make sense. When I added up the costs for buying the vehicle, license, insurance, and maintenance/repairs it was just as cost effective to buy a 2nd Cummins truck that gets 20mpg and keep the miles off my '03. Plus, my '98 isn't depreciating like a new econo-car would, and I feel MUCH safer driving my Ram.

I thought about going to a gasser as well, but in order to get the kind of towing I want, I would have to go Ford V10. I need a crew cab truck at least, and I have to have at least 6'-3" bed. The 5'-6" bed just won't so it for me. F150 has the longer bed in the crew cab (good job Ford), but I tried towing my snowmobile trailer with the F150 and didn't like it. I just need more power. Sum it up, I keep coming back to how nice the room and power of the Mega cab are. There are some little things I don't like about the Dodge, but I can spend some money here and there to get it close to what I would like it to be. If I went to a V10, the mileage would kill me... and so would the oil changes. Looks like I am going to try and ride it out with the Diesel. But I may consider getting a $1000 beater for mileage and commuting.... and for GOD SAKES, it would be so much easier to park and less prone to damage in parking lots!!!

Last time I filled up, it was 3.29. Today it's 3.59.

So this past weekend I dropped $1800 on a four door econo-box with 90k miles on it. Should pay for itself within 12 months.

I'm considering a bicycle, but I'm afraid of the local drivers running me over out of envy.

Well, I just might join the small exodus. I found a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 QC Laramie 4X2 with most all the option boxes checked (nav, sunroof). list is $40,495. I am going to see if the dealer will "trade keys" today. I love the looks of the dually, but it is just a "driver" for me, not a work truck. If I am going to do it, now is the time, I've got the negotiating edge with it being so slow.

Who knows, maybe I'm .

I will post the results tonight.
