Brake rotors
Brake rotors 2008--- 2500
Hello again to a great help site 2008 dodgeram 2500 diesel
well I have to admit that I have not done much ( mechanically ) for a long time ( retired ) I went to a Firestone master care shop today ( master care My ------ ) Brake pad replacement, They tried to tell me that Dodge has a wear tolerance that forces them to replace rotors if past a certain wear point ?? is this true ?/ as a young man I replaced many brake pads , along with rear ends , transmissions, axles etc. in other words I have been around a little and to me, the rotors were fine , if I were a little younger I would replace pads myself, but I am almost past that point in life. by the way they had a laundry list of items to replace , what started out to be a $130 repair , all of a sudden jumped to $1500.00 and no that is not a Typ-o
Needless to say I walked but I am curious , does dodge dictate rotor replacement when wear exceeds a certain point ???
I checked my son-in-laws Avalanche rotors which I thought was terrible and he stated the Chevy dealer service dept told him his were OK for awhile yet. response is welcome and encouraged

All brake rotors have a minimum thickness. Once beyound that, they need to be replaced. Any shop that routinly does brake jobs should be able to measure your rotors, and then look up minimum specs.
I recently replaced the rear brakes on my truck: New pads, rotors, calipers, and hardware. Cost was about $350 from Autozone, using their premium parts with life time warrenty.
