Bought a 2005!

Well what started out as helping a buddy try to buy a diesel and I ended up buying it instead since he chickened out! It is a 2005 2500 Quad 4x4, G56, with a ranch hand grille guard, new AT tires with 52,000 miles on her. And it is Red just like my last one. Man I really like getting back into a truck with the true four doors. Hopefully I made the right choice but the other truck was starting to have more issues everyday, the last one was when I went to plug it in Sunday night and I as I walked away I hear all kinds of snapping and poppping and turn around to see sparks shooting from my bumper! I guess the cord had a crack in it that allowed the cord to ground out on the truck. Melted the plastic around the foglight mount. Anyway just thought I would brag about moving into the 3rd gen stage now.

Congrats, you picked a great year the only one with a intercooler that seems to fail. Mine did about a day after getting the boost fooler. Enjoy it, I love having the full doors too. My last truck was a 96 V10.

Only the early 05's had the plastic intercooler. Mine was built in May of 05, and has metal end caps. Also, it seems the 05's have the least of the issues noted on the forums.

Congrads on your new toy.
I got my 05 in March of 05 and the only thing I keep thinking is why I waited so long to switch to the darkside.

My 05 is great! Mine was built in April of 05 and it has the metal cooler and the updated weather stripping. I love it.

Yeah, I think I got one of the last 2005's made too. It seems to have come with alot of the updated stuff that people have had to deal with. The only problem I've had with mine was the mirror glass popping out of the drivers mirror right after I bought it.

I've never had to get a flash of any kind, weather stripping replaced, parts replaced, or anything. It was at the "dealer" three times in the last 2.5 years. First to get the mirror replaced. Second to get the leather installed. Third to get the cruise control high idle turned on (and that one I watched them do). I get over 20 mpg on the highway, and about 19 under my normal driving / commuting.

Ah, I remember something now: I had to do the carpet in the drivers seat mod to make it so that I could drive it without getting crippled. My only other complaint is working with the dang stereo to install add-ons that need to use the audio system.

Everything else I've done is normal stupid stuff, like bulbs in the fog lamps, or accessories I've added (which are adding up).

I am very happy with my '05. Only trip to the dealer was for the weather stripping.

Another 05 here. Couldn't be happier. Beside the anoying weather stripping problem that my 05 1500 also had. I'm happy as can be. Mine is a work horse and more. Everything I have thrown at it so far it has done with no problems.
