disclaimer: I have not installed one of these (yet), and I don't know of anyone that has one on a Dodge.

How much air you running in those tires EMPTY. I run 45 rear and 65 front. If your up above 50 on the rear the ride just gets more jarring.

i have Yokohama Geolander oversized tires, which helped tremendously in the ride comfort compared to the General Americraps that came stock on the truck. Those tires rode so stiff, it would shake fillings out of your teeth at anything over 40 mph I tried adjusting the pressure and it made very little difference until i put the bigger tires on it. Since these tires have a taller sidewall, they absorb more shock, or at least thats what i told myself when i bought them

I know there is a limit as to how smooth you can make a solid axle 4x4 ride, but i want to get as close as i can to smooth, if ya know what I mean.

The super duty trucks are all solid axle 4x4. 2005 and newer use a radius arm assembly instead of the 4 link in the Dodge, 2004 and older had the crappy leaves. The pre 1997 Fords were using the old twin traction beam, a dismal suspension in stock form (Highly modified it works great on my Bronco)

My dad has an 07 super duty. I like the way the way my dodge rides better than his F-250. I'm not looking for a cadillac ride, just slightly less jarring would be fine.

To change the ride a good bit you'll need to address the rear springs.

Lorenz 5100 kit and 315 tires got mine riding gud .

Look up Lorenz, I think I read here somewhere that you can get his leaf packs and take a few out maybe and keep a stock ride height.

I've also heard of people cutting the ends off the overload spring... Might wanna look that up to verify how good of an idea that is.

Give more details on your truck, miles, 2500, 3500, quad cab, short bed, long bed?

so good quality new shocks, adversely affected your lateral stability? i must have installed mine incorrectly, 'cause mine only move up and down.

Softer shocks equate to more body roll, sounds right to me. This is why my buddy's Avalanche has a cushy ride but handles like a wet sponge.

I keep coming back to the realization that a leveling kit or coils will likely result in needing an adjustable tracbar, so I'm leaning towards the HD shocks to keep the front suspension stock. Maybe the HD shocks up front and the 5100 in the rear??? That way the rear wouldn't have to be changed right away if I add coilovers up front.

any decent quality new shock will not 'sway'. by it's nature, it will absorb a bump then stop, as opposed to a worn shock, that will keep the truck bouncing after the initial bump has been absorbed. BTW, i've never heard of the 5100 referred to as a 'soft' shock.

Well they are. But imagine if you had a dually? Now your on a whole new playing field. That kit will be readily available soon at your local walmart tire center. Just ask sam walton to point you in the right direction.

I believe "sway" is used in place of body roll in Smokintwins's post. My Bronco with a very loose coilover setup has tons of body roll. It isn't that the shocks are worn, but the valving is very light for increased tire ground contact when going fast on rough roads. The only cure for body roll is excessively firm shocks, or a proper antisway bar like those from Helwig.

shocks

Just take the **** shocks out. You dont need them trust me. I had an 89 f-150 that was a terd. I took the shock out, man what a ride. A little scary at times you know when the wheel wont quit hopping uup and down after hitting every pothole and railroad track you can find. Hey the way i look at it made me a better driver, it teaches you how to control an out of control vehicle. My insurance should be cheaper i am a safer driver, i have been through the course.
