battery terminal corrosion

I now have 26,000 on my rig and ever since about 5,000 miles the passenger side battery negative terminal gets corroded. I clean off the corrosion at each service interval, but it comes right back and only on this one terminal. The rest of them don't show any signs of corrosion.

Do I have a post that is leaking acid? Or is there something hay wire with my charging system?

I called the dealer and they said they see this a lot on the Rams. Are they BSing me? They said to bring the truck in and they would check the charging system for me.

Anyone out there with the same problem?

Next time you clean the teminal...coat all exposed metal with terminal sealant or spray paint. It should corrode anymore. If it does...must be a battery issue...leak maybe near the post?

Those little donuts for preventing terminal corrosion work well, as does coating everything with grease. First brush the area with a warm baking soad solution, rinse and dry, then grease.

Next time you clean your terminals, get some Corn Syrup and apply liberally and allow it to dry. That will stop your corrosion in its track. The terminals will look like new for years. Just touch them up every now and again.

If it's only one term corroding, It's probably the seal for the post is leaking. It will drive you nuts til you replace the batt.
