Autometer Gauge Bulb change.. question

I have the Autometer 3 gauge A-pillar mount. Boost, FP, EGT. My middle gauge ( Boost) has a weak backlight. It is on and I can see it OK, but it is much much dimmer and weaker than the other two. I did not install them myself but had a performance shop do it for me. I called them and they said there is a bulb you can change at the back of the gauge. They told me to gently pry out the gauge, and there is a screw you take out top open up the back and change the bulb. Has anyone ever done this???? Just wanting to make sure I have all the tools I need. Thank U

i have the same exact problem..... the difference between the other 2 is that the boost is mechanical and the other 2 are electronic. atleast thats the way my truck is..... the only way to fix it is to get a electronic boost guage which could cost big $$$$$$

Oh, that makes sense. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough at them when i first had them installed? I could have sworn that the Boost and Pyro ( Both yellow backlight) were same brightness. Maybe I was wrong. My FP is GREEN backlight, I asked for that specifically. Maybe I will just leave it alone then!

Well if you have different color backlights, they make little rubber "condom" style light covers (green and red) that cover the bulbs so they change your backlight color. If you have one that is green and the other two are yellow, it sounds to me the green light cover is on the dimmer, green colored light and the light covers are missing from the other two gauges. If they left you enough slack with the wires, and did not put the braces on the back of the guages, you should be able to pull them out like described. Also, if they did not seat the light covers properly, there is a possible bleed through of light causing differing intensity of light....

Cool thanks, I will gently take the suspect gauge out of the A-pillar and take a look to see if there is enough slack... If not, all is well and I can live with it.
