Air conditioning problem
Air conditioning problem
The air conditioning LED lights up when the switch it turned on, but it doesn't get cool and the compressor doesn't turn. I know the system is charged and working because I was in Arizona when it quit and I wired a switch directly to the compressor and it works when I toggle the switch on and provide 12 volts directly to the compressor. I would like to get the problem fixed, however.
I am the second owner of this truck, but I did pay the fee to keep the warranty. It was manufactured on 6/04 and has 61K. Is it still in warranty?
Is it worth taking it to a dealer? Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Don't be too sure of the freon charge till you put gauges on it. #1 cause of this is low freon. That compressor may not be coming on because of a low pressure switch designed to keep it from shredding itself. Put a good gauge on it is always step one. If it's low, it has a leak. And that will 99.99999% of the time on these things will be the evap coil under the dash.
