adjustable pedals, what are they and do I need them. How do they work and how many inches of adjustment do they have.

I'm 5' 10" and have no problem, but my wife is about 5' 2" and may drive the truck a little (when she gets her license).

I'm in the middle east now, so can't run down to a dealer to check them out.

 

The control is down under the steering wheel and a little left, mounted on the dash. I never measured but the travel is something like 2-3". My wife is 5'-3" and I am 6' tall, she doesn't use it but she sure moves the seat forward . I showed the wife how to use it but she won't even switch to 4 wheel drive either...... women I never will figure them out .

 

I have the power pedal option as well.

Seems as though I fiddled with it a little bit on the way home from the dealership as it was a novelty. After that I've pretty much forgotten about them until this thread.

My short answer, you don't need them.

Anybody else who drives my truck (which is very rare) just moves the seat ahead or back with no complaints, I never even remember to tell anyone that switch is there.

 

I have them for my wife. It is a nice option that rarely gets used; however, if you've ever had an airbag go off in your face its nice to know you can sit back a couple of extra inches if one were to ever go off in your face again. For me personally, I don't use it since Im 6'-2" but it is nice for my wife who is 5'-4".

I have them and I actually thought the go pedal was too far away from the rest of the pedals, so I took the cable off each pedal and adjusted them to the way I like it. The pedals are now custom fit to how I like them

 

Does one really need them NO, but they are nice to have, I'm just 5'-5" and the only problem I have with them is I forget about them until I'm on the hiway and then one can't move them.

 

I adjust my pedals on the hiway, while I am driving to change my leg position during a long drive. I do this a little at a time.

 

My Mom had them on her expedition and she believes it saved her life when she had a nasty rollover. It kept her far enough w=away from the steering wheel that when the colum moved she had room that it didnt' colapse her chest.

When she bought her Mega to replace the expy it HAD TO HAVE THEM!!! They will move enough that at 5'2 she has the required 12 inches between her body and the steering wheel. She has to drive fairly straight armed but at least if the airbag went off it would not smash her in the face and chest!

If you have a shorter wife get the power pedals and show her how to use them

Ditto! Great to have on the real long drives like from Texas to Ohio to visit family. (yes I do use the cruise control too). Helps those of us with bad knees when ya kneed to get a better position to minimize knee pain.

Plus my wife is only 4'10", Both the CTD and her Durango have adjustable pedals. She would be right up against the steering wheels on both vehicles without them.

 

i dont have them and am trying to think of something i can safely clip over the pedal ( when she drives) to get my short girlfriend away from the wheel she so close i dont like it at all truck i s big and bulky unlike her car but if she eats the steering wheel , no good!!

I just have to remind my wife to use them to back her away from the wheel, otherwise she's right up there waiting for a mouth full of airbag!!!

 

I have them and I like them because I can adjust the seat to suit the steering wheel first, then adjust the pedels to suit the seat position.
