abs/hcu info request

Hi,
Did numerous searches re ABS/HCU info. Couldn't seem to find a final answer.
Situation as follows: Drove the truck and did some shopping came out restarted and yellow abs light and red brake light came on as did a whirring under the hood. Drove a few blocks home shut her down. Whirring continued. Pulled the 40 amp abs fuse to stop the whirring.
Came in here and did some searches which has given me an idea what is happening. Most of the threads didn't seem to update what final resolution was.
I have appt. with Dodge shop 40 miles away so would like an idea what I can expect..just want to be informed to keep costs down

I have an 03 Dodge 3500,QC 5.9,SRW stock. I havent gotten any codes as I have no reader.

General consensus: is it module or HCU. Am I better to pull the fuse or unplug the module and leave fuse in till I get to shop. If it is the module /HCu any idea as to cost of repair.
From what I read I know it could be a multitude of things from a sensor right on up. As well I know I can drive w/o the ABS so that will me give me some time to come up with a repair plan as this is the only vehicle we have available here.
Thanks

Hi,
For those doing a future search..
The Abs controller went..Cost 85.00Us diagnostic, 424.00 parts 134.00 labour 1 yr parts /labor warranty.
A remanufactured/rebuilt is 150.00 and if you know your stuff a few beers with friends and your done.

Used ABS modules can be installed, and the remans are fine too, but you need a DRB to program the vin to it and set the pinion factor.
