3rd gen wheels on 1 gen

Do you guys know if 3rd gen wheels will fit on a 1st gen? I posted in the 1st gen forum but nobody seems to know over there.

They should, theyll tuck in pretty close, but should fit fine.
Check tire size.

I had 3rd gen wheels on my '97 2wd 12valve, and the only difference was them tucking in a little more.
Are 1st gen axles wider/narrower than 2nd gens?

Bolt pattern is the same but the 3rd gens have way more backspacing. The wheels will sit in much closer and may rub.

Get 2 in. spacers and put them on, I already asked about this a couple months ago in the 1st Gen forum and they told me it wouldn't work cuz of the backspacing but they'll fit fine if you use spacers. There was a picture of a 1st Gen in Diesel Power magazine with 3rd Gen wheels on it so they have to go on there some how.

I put my original set of polished 3rd gen wheels on by buddys '94 yesterday. i thought it looked good. They do have more backspacing, but it only looked to be set in like an inch more than the factory steelies. I'm not so sure about 2" spacers on the front of anything!!! We drove it all day yesterday and had no rubbing. The wheels had 265/70r17 perelli scorpions on them.
