cwoodall - good timing on that question.

I've been looking at the Westin and MAAP stainless side rails & tube steps this past week. I was concerned as some over at TDR claimed they had fitment problems. I sent e-mails to Westin/MAAP specifically asking their tech boys if the products for the '02 1500 Rams would fit our trucks.

The response from Westin:

Mr. ********
This is correct the new body style 2003 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 will accommodate the same bars as the 1500 new body style. It is being implemented into the catalog that will be going out in December.
Thank You,

I ended up ordering a MAAP stainless oval tube step (with the 5" step inserts) through JC Whitney as I have a coupon from that company making it a good deal. They're on back order 'till December so I can't assume they'll be no fitment problems (shrug).

Best to y'all
Bill

I was inquiring about these also, and was told by our local Westin dealer that yes, the 02' 1500 side steps would work on my 03'. I was looking for molded, body color side steps, with fender flares built in, but it seems it may be awhile for those. Anyone else have any? if so, can you post, or send me a pic of them? Thanx, CC.

I was at the dealership yesterday. They had some nerf bar steps displayed that I liked. They wanted $515 for them.
They were flat on top and oval shaped on the bottom half. They were maybe 6 inches wide. On the top part they were black plastic and chrome or stainless on the bottom half.
Has anyone seen any made like that for sale somewhere besides the Dodge dealer$hip?
Thanks Randy

I highly recommend checking out ebay. You can get a set of stainless for under $300 shipped! That's what I'll be doing soon.

Check out the web site www.bigrun.us for stainless nerf bars, They also sells them on E-Bay. I went directly to the place where they make & sell them in Chicago & was pleased with the way they look on my '03 STD cab 4x4. Bob the owner was very helpful also. ;D
Roger
Re:2003 2500 4x3 Quad Cab Nerf Bars

I have the Westin Platinum bars on my '02. They are literally bathed in salt and calcium chloride during the winter months and it is rare that I can wash the truck then. The bars look as good as the day I put them on. The chrome plated stainless looks much nicer than ordinary polished stainless steel, and in some cases certain grades of stainless will tarnish when exposed to salt. The best price I found on the Westin bars was US Truck Accessory Warehouse. Caution! Dealers will charge $200-$300 more to install the same product that took me about an hour to put on.

Moss, my dealer sells the Westin bars in his showroom, both the stainless, and the Platinum stainless, but will not sell painted steel bars because they rust out in 2-3 years.

I have the maap challenger's in the polished SS. Those are the flattened oval ones that are 5" wide. These fit fine and I like the look as they are kind of a cross between a running board and a nerf bar.
