Just bought 6.7 any advise
I have gauges installed in my truck, they have been in for over a year now. Whaen I am towing my 5er with the EGR plugged in last year during regen my EGT's would be as high as 1350F. With out regen normal running with trailer 900F. Driving around town and on the highway with out the 5er I would be 800F to 1200F depending if the truck was in regen or not. I would turn the truck off at 400F. Turbo is water cooled.
I have since unpluged the EGR valve gain, 2 MPG and lower my EGT's by 200F when driving the truck. When I idling the truck, it will be at 300F or lower. No issues with my truck since I have unplugged the EGR, been that way for 4K.

id love to have a 6.7 if i could do all the deletes and not worry about getting a ticket for it. but the 6spd auto still is the weak link for a performance minded nut like us, so i might just build a 6.7 longblock for my 06, when all the bugs are worked out these wont be bashed so much, good luck with the new truck.
lol thats the funniest thing, just last night at the track, iheard that exact same thing, the 68re is tougher. well all it took was 2 boosted launches with this 6.7. it had the edge j/a hot, all the delete's. bye bye tranny.the smarty is going to eat them up in higher sw's youll see.
I'm not a 6.7 expert, but common sense tells me that your trans will be fine as long as you treat it within reason....on a 5.9 the 48 trans would handle +90hp over stock...as long as you didnt thrash it...
yeh your right i was looking at it like that, tend to a little.and yeh i had a j/a and some other mods with the stock tranny for about 8 month's.it took a real lot of abuse with me behind the wheel. including trac time, 4wd boosted launches, and never a hic up.dynoed at the time just under 400.
Thanks, I do look at thier sig's and and take things with a grain of salt but I do like to get all the info I can so that hopefully learn from their experance's at the track or on the road.
Its like anything...if you plan to play, be prepared to pay. Maybe the 6 spd auto needs to be worked over sooner then the 4 spd auto did when adding power. So far with 116,000 miles on the truck with 114,000 of that in stock form and towing about 50-60% of the time...not one problem. Now with testing the Smarty 6.7 I will be watching it closer...I intend to use the Smarty for mpg gains and timing as well as that kind of specific feedback now that I am in the Beta group and I completed Alpha . As long as I keep my thoughts that way [
] I hope to be safe. However, if I want to crank the power, I will address the trans...hopefully I do it in the correct order too...modify trans then modify power. Otherwise...modify power then wreck trans could cost more.
If ya want to go mental...read my signature.

The 6.7's proof is in the numbers starting to come in. Remember a 6.7 is essentially a stroked 5.9. No replacement for displacement. Once the emmissions are deleted and a tuner like Smarty gets the truck running right the 5.9 will have a hard time keeping up in an apple to apples comparsion of modifications.
hey rage blue any 3rd gen cummins can hit 1600 again and again. let me see you tow while hitting 1600 degree's and sustain it for a minute or two. you could say bye bye, cause something will let go.thats a no brainer
Maybe so but the 6.7 is built to runner at higher EGT's over the 5.9, what ever the melting point is.
