Full Delete ???

I am doing the full deletes tomorrow. I read in the Smarty Jr pamphlet that if the trucks ECM wasnt set to stock it would lock the Smarty. I have had the J35 flash, is that flash going to screw me on doing my deletes. and any other advise on doing the job would be appreciated. I am new to the diesel world. I have had the truck for 9 months with out any problems. But i figured its time to do the deletes. coming in on 75K, i think its time. I bought the SmartyJr ME, 4in MBRP exhaust and H&S EGR delete kit. Thanks for the help.

Mike

Mike,

You will be fine. That statement was more to the effect of another programmer being present.

For example. If you had a Superchips programmed to the truck and then tried to upload the Smarty without removing the Superchips, the Smarty wouldnt have any "stock" software that it would be able to read and store from the truck.

Delete it, load up the Smarty, and enjoy!

So should I load the Smarty first, or do the EGR and Exhaust first and then load the Smarty. Thanks

You can load the Smarty programming before doing the deletes, just dont run the ME file. The ME file is for deleted trucks only.

2171CTD - So I am assuming that you are telling me to do the EGR delete first, and put my new exhaust on and then use the SmartyME on the truck.

It doesn not matter the order in which you do them, Joe was just saying not to run the truck with the 67ME programming without doing the deletes.

You can delete, then program, or program then delete, just do them at the same time.

My friends of the DTR, I have it installed, but I can't drive it until tomorrow morning when I get off work at 7, due to me being a fireman on 24 hr shifts. It sounds good. I have it set on fuel saver mode until i get some gauges. Then I might play a little bit. The process went pretty smoothly with a little help from Blake Clark, and another buddy that helped me get the down pipe back on the turbo manifold. I would say the hardest part of the job was the exhaust, I had to cut it in two places to get it out. The EGR delete was cake after some explanation, the smarty was simple. I was very anxious and nervous at the same time, but tomorrow I will put her to the test. Thanks everyone for the help and insight.

This site offers some real good information and money saving ideas. Yeah money saving...thats it.
I see the deletes as a way to save more non renewable resources by burning less fuel to do the same work.

When you are unfamiliar with how things work, its always helpful when someone like Blake can take the time to explain.
Now watch Blakes head swell up REALLY big.

Welcome to the slippery slope of BOMBing
