Crankcase Filter Change
Need some help. I am changing out my crankcase filter at 60,000 and need to know how it is done? Any tips, tricks, photos or helpful info would be awesome. Thanks for your time and help.:cool:

If it is he 6.7 I think the whole valve cover has to be changed.

The whole valve cover does not need to be changed!
1) Remove the CCV filter hose from the CCV filter cover. 2) Remove the 4 bolts holding the front cover in place. Remove dip stick, then remove the front cover. 3) Remove the 8 bolts holding the CCV filter cover in place, and remove the cover 4) Pull the filter up off of the valve cover and install the new one. Put it back together and you're done. |

For some reason or another, I thought the whole cover was one assembly... my bad. I've been out of the loop for a minute. |

The nuts that the cover bolts screw into are embedded in plastic, and will move slightly when tightening. Just light snug on the bolts is plenty, or they will pull the nuts loose.

You also need to reset the EVIC otherwise you will get a message stating service required see dealer now. Or something like that.
Here is how to reset the CCV filter message: Turn the Key to on, do not start. Press brake pedal 2 times, press gas pedal 2 times slowly 2 times within 10 seconds. Turn key off. Repeat as necessary to turn off EVIC. Jim W. |
I just bought an 08 it has the deletes and a minni max, the over head says service required. does this mean I have to cange the ccv. BTW what does that mean?

[dummy]Quick question for anybody out there. I changed out my sump filter and spin on filter for the tranny. When reinstalling the tranny oil pan I broke one of the screws off when torquing down @ 22psi. I read thats what they should be torqued at, obviosouly not! I used Mopar RTV for the gasket prior to breaking the screw, do you think one screw not being in place will make the pan leak? Every seems to be okay now, I am just worried about longevity.[dummy]

I believe that should have been inch lbs not psi...
Also, since you're in kalyforrnya, why areyou doing the ccv filter yourself? Isnt it included in the 67500 mile egr service paid for by the dealer? |
