I'll have a better one soon but I have a hard time spending that $$$ when the stock pump seems to be feeding my truck just fine... I have considered a secondary pump too. Seems like the cheapest route to go....

Mine was exactly the same with only a couple thousand miles on it. Smarty on levels #3 and #5 would pull it down to "0" but the engine wouldn't miss a beat. On levels #7 and #9 it would cause a stumble/hesitation in the upper RPM's.

A second inline pump has worked great for me so far. I get 25psi at idle, 20-21 while cruising, and no less than 14 at WOT. Not sure how long the Holley will last, but if it does break I can bypass it by loosening a couple hose clamps and putting the stock steel piece of line back in.

You wouldn't want to explain / have a pic of this would you?

There's a bunch of threads on here about the Holley Blue pumps. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.

I have a fuel pump from a ford ps 7.3l. They put out 50-65 psi of fuel pressure on the 7.3l eng. Does anyone think that it is to much pressure for the CR. I have not put it on yet. Also if it is ok to use do you recommend removing the pump out of the tank? I know that it is a restriction otherwise. Any thoughts or comments are always welcome. Thanks for the replies to my initial question.

Yes you should remove the intank pump, unless you run a completely separate setup and then you can have redundancy.
50psi would be too much but that is easily reduced with a bypass regulator. Very easy to do...

Sounds like the pump you're talking about may be an OEM walbro... aka Superduty...

Probably a few guys here remember that name...

I've searched, but you know what's going on with the search function on the site as of late.[yuk]

Anyway, the OEM pump isn't restricting draw of the Holley? Running the extra pressure from the Holley isn't "too" much for the OEM filter and CP3? Wired to engage with the stock intank pump?

I think the two just happen to work well together. I know it doesn't seem like they would. Think of it like this...the Holley just has it's own lift pump (the stocker). [laugh]

Definitely not too much pressure for the stock filter and CP3. I have seen spikes to 44psi (I guess when letting off the pedal quickly at WOT), but hasn't blown the stock lid off yet. I bought a billet lid from Geno's, but couldnt' get the filter to sit straight and wasn't going to risk installing it crooked like that.

Yes, powered by a 30A relay triggered off the stock pump wire.

I guess the next questions would be to ask what the model number of the pump is and where to get it?

jrussell 08-06-2007 09:28 AM

Not sure what the model number is, but the model name is Holley Blue. I'm pretty sure they only make one model of the "Blue".

I got mine at the local Checker Auto Parts, but it's the main store with a high performance section. I think you can order one at any local auto parts store though. They run around $110 if I remember correctly.

Festus 08-06-2007 09:30 AM

Thanks. I'll have to check if I can get it through NAPA up here - no "Checker" around here.
