XZT problem and fuzzy answers from QUAD
After installing my ZXT, I noticed a shuttering concern after I go into overdrive and the converter locks. And while on a 150 mile trip, the truck kind of shut off then started back up again then the check engine light is on....did I buy a junky Quad box????

I recently purchased the xzt module which seems to work just fine except my mpg dropped from 18 mpg around town to 16.9 mpg and from 19.89 mpg at 70 mph highway to 17.53 mpg at 70 mph (all hand calculated- 2 seperate tanks of fuel). I haven't tried removing the module and running 2 tanks through to see if the mpg goes back up and I haven't tested towing my 11k trailer with it yet. I have been especially alert not to hotdog it with the module so I could get some good mpg numbers. What gives? Any ideas would be welcome. By the way the improved power seems to be there and I haven't popped any codes.

Hard to say why mileage would get worse? I can tell you that if you are getting 18mpg in town that is impressive. The majority of these trucks get from 13-15mpg in town and 14-17 on the hwy. We own 4 of them here and none of them get mileage worth a flip stock. Maybe we drive different.
I noticed you said you were especially careful about how you drove. My recommendation would be to drive it like you always do and do not worry about the module. Sometimes babying them more than normal will not always yield the best results.
Give me your serial number and we will find out if it has the latest flash.

First do the key trick and get what code it is. That will tell us what happened.
As someone else stated we do not alter anything in the transmission. If it is shuttering then you might have a weak.bad converter or some other issue?
Get us the codes and while you are out there make sure everything is plugged in tight.

0251 = Not enough fuel.
To get this code at 65hp your fuel system really needs to be looked at.
Start with the simple stuff like the fuel filter. If that is not it then it could be a lift pump?
What year truck do you have?

Ok, here is the exact wording regarding that DTC.
0251 = CP3 Pump Regulator Control
Set Condition = The ECM detects a discrepnacy between the PWM supplied to the Fuel Control Actuator and the PWM returned from the Fuel Control Actuator.
What it is saying is that at the CP3 there is signal sent for XX amount of fuel. The return line to the ECM quantifies this request.
In your case I have absolutely not doubt that stock your truck is fine. I do not think anything is broken. What I do know is that even on a new truck it is very possible to get a weak or even a bad FCA and there are many people that have had them replaced.
The XZT box is going to ask the CP3 for more fuel, especially if you flog it. I know it is only 65hp but it still takes addition fuel to make that power.
Now, you can let it clear and see if it comes back. I have seen them come and go and sometimes they never return? It may come on everytime you hammer it? Hard to say.
The only fix I know of is to replace the FCA.

NickBazil -
Are you getting any smoke? I recently had an 0251 throw after an injector install, smoked quite a bit and the truck ran worse as it got warmer. Ended up being a nick in the connector tube orifice where it sockets into the injector. Mechanic told me that the rail pressures were low, that the CP3 was being signaled to pump more fuel, and once the FCA went wide open, I was smoking all the extra fuel due to the tube leak. I can't see oyu having this exact problem, but the 0251 can point to a hung injector that would do essentially the same thing.
Just another angle....
BTW, Quad's right - any performance enhancement will highlight a weak part of the system - it don't have to be broke completely. After 3 injector replacements, I finally learned that one....
