X-Monitor Installed

I debated over which guages to install on my new 2004.5 2500. I had the 3 guage a-pillar mount on my 2001 and liked it. The 04 has the grab handle which I wanted to keep, so I decided to try the X-Monitor. The hook up for the boost was easy with the included hollow bolt. I had to look for the computer to hook up the trany temp. line. The computer is now on the side of the engine under the injector pump. It was easy to find the right pin, but crimping the tap on the wire took some doing in the tight quarters. Now for the pryo. On my 01 I driled the manifold and did not have any trouble with doing that. I liked having the pryo. pre-trubo. When I started looking at the new manifold the engine seems to be futher back under the windshield and dash. That was going to make me drill futher out to the front . I got to looking at the pryo, it was longer than the other one I had so it looked like it would be too long. BD sends a bung that is susposed to be welded on the manifold or after the turbo on the elboe that is why it is longer. I decided it would be better if I took the elboe that attaches the trubo to the exhaust pipe off and drill and tap it. That went pretty smoth, so I am now post-turbo.
The X-Monitor is working and it responds very quickly to changing temps and boost pressure. I do wish the display was about twice the size and much brighter for day time driving, it is hard to see with my sun glasses on. The price is prety high also.
I am going on a trip Friday and wanted to get something on the truck quickly.

When I did mine, we drilled the exhaust manifold and welded the bung (as you called it) to the manifold. Works real well so far.

If you get a chance, have your dealer compair what the computer and the Xmonitor say about tranny temp. Mine is off by about 25* at normal operating temp. My Dad's is off by about 10*. Mine reads low and my dad's reads high if I remember right. Example: Xmonitor was showing 144* and the computer was reporting 169* (170* is normal for the 48RE).
