Wheel to Wheel nerf bars questions

Well,

I finally pulled the trigger & bought a new truck. Thought I was getting a 2004, turned out to be a 2004.5... oh well.

I'd like to get the wheel 2 wheel nerf bar or running board. BUT... i was wondering about the sturdiness of the longer lenght pipe.

For the folks who have them, how do you like them, what brand & do they hold up. Also, what is the best online site for accessories such as rail cap & tailgate cover. I'd like to get a tailgate cover that also covers the tailgate when laid out flat.

any info appreciated.

thanx,

David

David,
First, welcome to the forum. You will find lots of good info here. I have had the Westin Wheel-to-wheel bars on mine for about a year and they have held up very well. My only complaint is that when I use the rear-most step to reach into the bed, there is very little room for the toe of your shoe. It does work, but it could be better.

Ditto on the no space for your toe using the rear step of the bar to get into the bed. I've got the Go Rhino wheel to wheel and I think they look killer. I'd do it again in a hurry.

Check out the big ole 4" Putco WtW bars. They are also stainless steel.

I have pics of them.

If you get a spray on bed liner they will also do the bed rails fro a lil more. That's what I did.

I had the WAAG wtw bars on my F250 and I will get them again for my Dodge. I love the way they attached and looked. I believe they're available in black or chrome with aluminum treads. My only complaints were:

1) They're a little slippery when wet so you have to be careful of your footing

2) I'm glad I had them installed by WAAG. There were some parts missing in the kit (we were next to the factory, so they were able to get them fairly quickly) and I would have been pretty ticked off if I were trying to do this at home.

Other than that, I loved the quality and the look.

I have the Putco 4'' wheel to wheel Boss Bars and I'm very pleased with them. I weigh 245 pounds and they are rock solid when I stand on them. The only gripe I have is what the others have stated, there isn't a lot of room for your toe's when you use the bed step. Oh, and as far as pricing goes they cost more than most other brands.

Same as Big Ed and SteveNC. Putco Boss bars are 4" polished stainless, not much room for the toe though on the last step (the one for the bed).
Here's a tip. Some bars are chromed over steel, others are polished stainless. Some have stainless hangers while others have powder coated or dipped. Shop a retailer in your county and perhaps the nearest counties as well, ask for referrences and warranties. Some are not warranted against rust more than 90 days.

I went with Willmore's, which I am happy with.

However if I did it again I would go with J&J Enterprises Millennium running boards!
