What do you describe as surge?

I have an 05 ctd with a/t and cannot decide on sps 62 or sps 66.


what is this between 1700 and 1900 rpm? I really want more power but I also want drivability.

 

I'll try to answer this one...

I kind of understand what turbo surge is, but I'm not sure that I understand it well enough to explain it. Basically, (especially under a load at mid-rpm and mid-boost), the pressure starts fluctuating. For example, my boost pressure gauge will bounce between 20 and 40 psi. I really do mean "bounce", as does the truck. If I keep the power settings lower, it isn't much of a problem. If you're towing, it will be more of a problem -- I don't tow. By the way, I have the 6sp and SPS66.

I hear that with your stack, the 66 should push around 60psi and the 62 I think about 50 or so. The 62 is more drivable, but the 66 will give you more air volume, thus a bit more power.

I love the SPS66 and don't regret it a bit. If I towed, I would have definately gone with the 62.
