Walbro Kit

Has anybody installed a Walbro fuel kit on their truck and noticed about 100 degree increase in EGT on a regular basis?

100 Degree increase?? maybe your right foot got heavier

In all honistly I thought my engine ran better and sounded better when on the fuel heavy (TST). Other than that my EGT's are right where they should be. More fuel, higher EGT's. I think that may be the contributing factor (unless you have a leaking injecter or something to where your putting in a lot more fuel at idle....

Well the thing that sucks is my mileage went down the drain before I was able to get about 16 mpg(hand calced) around town and close to 20 (freeway driving) now I am only getting about 13mpg around town. I understand that when I do get on the throttle much more fuel is delivered than before. Thats fine, but when I am not on the throttle shouldn't I only be using the same amount of fuel as I was with the stock pump and the excees fuel will flow through the bypass line back to my tank?

If your temps are up all the time and mileage is down the first thing that comes to mind is a leaking injector. I assume that this is a system you put together yourself. What kind of fuel pressure are you running at?

I got great mileage when my lift pump was starting to slow down.....put on my aftermarket and bam.....mileage went down but I could put the TST on levels 3 steps lower and make more power. Go Pedal response is better with aftermarket pumps. Sometimes better pedal response leads to worse mileage until the foot gets softer. Like Richard said....check your lube oil for more oil than you should....diesel floats ks

How can the lift pump give you "much more fuel"? Only the high pressure pump or injectors can manage that.

Agreed. This is some other, non-fuel delivery related issue.

Well, I am able to get more fuel because the lift pump increases psi and you cut out the stock fuel line and replace it with 3/8" tubing which will allow more flow. Wht might be another symptom of a leaking injector? I hope that is not the problem but I guess we will see.

Diesel in your crankcase oil is going to be your biggest symptom of a leaking injector I believe.

Your low pressure side will do nothing by ways of decreasing mileage or increasing egt's. The high side of the cp3 can push 20,000+psi. In no way can the Walbro, or any other electric pump for that matter, make the cp3 "push" more fuel than it needs.

From Bosch themselves, If you increase the low pressure inlet pressure (lift pump)of the CP3 then you will increase the output pressure of the CP3.
By how much they do not specify. Their figures are not published for open discussion.
It seems that those whom are installing any after market Lift pump on these trucks are seeing smoother and quieter operation. This is due to the slight increase of rail pressure.

I have to side with the increase in fuel delivery. Before I installed my pump my truck didn't run near as good. Why, because the CP3 wasn't getting enough fuel. Now it is. My trucks idles smoother and accelerates better. However, my fuel mileage went up. I attribute this to less pedal for the same amount of work. Before my fuel rail would drain and my lift pump pressure would go to 0 PSI and cause a bad stumble. Now, I don't have that problem.

To answer the first post.....I would check your filter and all of your lines. You may have a leak that is injecting air into the system or your filter may just be shot. Could be bad fuel. Do you run any additives? What is your pressure like at idle, cruise and WOT?
