Variable Geometry Turbo??

Can you even get these on the aftermarket for our trucks? Not the MST just regular VGT.

Benefits of both a big and small turbos. Quick spool down low, large amounts of air up high. I figure that's why the 6.7 got it.

the 6.0 had them and they were dogs to spool up. If you want the beneifits of a big and small turbo get a big turbo and a small turbo and make a compound setup.

Not to mention that the vanes on the Garrett 6.0 PSD turbo were notorious for sticking and causing overboost and blown off boots.

I agree....get a small turbo feeding into the larger one

Guys, the VGT on the 6.7 is supposed to have been developed by Cummins just for their new engine... it's a Variable Geometry Turbo - the inlet nozzle slides back and forth, the vanes are stationary (except when they're rotating! )

The VGT on the 6.7 is still only designed for 325hp... To make big power you need the VGT off an ISX....I'm dumbfounded that one of the electronic gurus....Quad or otherwise haven't made a controller to control the V and marketed the turbos with a T6 manifold.....I think you'd sell a few.....2000ft-lb of torque.....it is a nice big turbo with low maintenance. The MST is the only one being marketed so far.....Mad Dog Madden is having one on the top of his Aurora twins. KS

According to The Dodge web site the 07 non commercials will have 350HP and 650 torque. Did they remove the VGt from them? If not they must be rated for more than 325hp, I should think.

AFAIK, all 6.7Ls have both the VGT and integral exhaust brake.

Is the integral exhaust brake just the turbo closed down? and 325 or 350hp at 610 or 650 isn't 2000ft-lb.

Probably is just the smallest it can get.

ABC, the exhaust brake on the 6.7 is just a calibration change if it is equipped with a VGTurbo. nothing else was installed.

If the VGT doesn't incorporate an actual exhaust brake, but relies on the sliding nozzle for engine braking - how well can that work?

They tune alot of the 6.0's like this, so when you let off the throttle the vanes stick open. Ive tried it and it doest seem to work to bad but not near the way a real exhaust brake works.
