last weekend i noticed unsteady boost...i could hear it because of an AFE Stage 2 and no silencer ring....well friday i installed gauges. now i can see it moving....under steady, firm throttle the boost will hop from 32 down to 28 and back up and just play around til i let off or floor it. Just cruising, no problems. WOT, no problems.

my afe filter is fairly dirty...could this cause my boost issue? thats where i'll start...i ordered an outerwear for the filter on june 30 and haven't seen it yet but i'll get it on and cleaned up ASAP. if that doesn't work, i'll take the EZ off and try again.

i'm dreading boost leaks. can anyone talk from experience?

i do have an 05 plastic intercooler too.

 

I have a similar problem. My boost gauge needle starts to vibrate at about 35 lbs. and does it all the way to max boost around 44-46 lbs. I have an AFE stg. II with the AFE Prefilter. The truck did not do this with a K&N on it. I am thinking it's probably because the AFE is more restrictive...which is a good thing. The reason I have an AFE is because the K&N was letting dirt in.

 

mine does more than vibrate, it flat moves as much as 5psi. i'll be looking into it.
