Twin upgrade question
Twin upgrade question
I'm currently running a HTB2 62/14. This Fall I will probably upgrade to twins but I have a couple of questions. Do I keep the HTB2 or sell it and buy a complete kit? One of the main reasons I bought the HTB2 was because it is supposed to make a great top turbo with a 12 cm exhaust housing. The problem is HTT doesn't sell an upgrade kit. I'm not that savvy to make my own piping, etc. so I'm kind of stuck on what to do. Does nayone have any ideas? Can I just buy an upgrade kit from say ATS, BD, etc. and instead of using their existing (whatever turbo) just use all of the stuff in conjunction with my HTB2?
My HP is great and is exactly where I wanted to be, actually it's a little more but that was a bonus. It ran 607 HP and 1189 TQ on a Dynojet 248. However, my EGT's are not what I want. I'm still playing with combinations but this weekend was not good. I was down to 5th gear and light throttle to go up a hill that I used to pull stock at 70 MPH with the same trailer. I couldn't keep the EGT under 1300 to save my life. That was on level 0 with the Juice and level 1 with the EZ. On the way back I turned off the A/C and bumped the Juice to level 3 thinking maybe I didn't have enough fuel or boost fooling to spool the turbo. My boost did go up to 33 lbs and my EGT did stay in check at around 1290 all of the way up the hill at 70 MPH. I varied the throttle and the EGT did follow like it should. I don't want to have to fixate on the EGT everytime I pull though so I thought twins might allow me to pull care free (or at least not as tense). I know I will more than likely drop some in HP but I would sacrifice that for cooling.

Give Rip a call, he deals with HTT and sold me a 62/13SS 2 weeks ago. They have a very good Twins setup according to Dave a HTT. They know how to use your HTB2 up top I'm sure. I think Bill is using a HTB2 62/12 on his twins setup and Rip was just about to fire up his personal twins setup witha HTB2 66/16 on top. http://www.sourceautomotive.biz/
Tell them Lee for Canada told you to call.

It takes a lot less effort to drive a single charger versus twins. The singles will make more peak but twins will make a lot more on the bottom and mid hence the better towing performance and cooling. This is for my range. Once you get in the 800 + range then I don't know for sure what happens to the ratio of exhaust pressure and efficiency of driving twins versus a large single. Maybe some other guys could fill us in for sure.
Shane is getting a twin setup from Nathan and he's going to use his stock turbo for now Im sure Nathan could build you what ever you want as far as 1 additional turbo and the needed piping.

The upgrade kits are offered from BD and ATS. Basically if you bought an A2000 from ATS and want twins a year later then they offer an upgrade kit that inlcudes the A5000 along with all of the necessary piping, wastegates, etc. BD does the same with the B1. I was thinking I could just sub my HTB2 in there for the B1 or A2000 along with a couple of extra parts but I don't want to try to piece something together blindly. I've never messed with twins before.
