The HE351 was a very nice upgrade on my 2003 HO. I would certainly recommend it.

What was your before and after boost?

Did you use the stock down pipe or the 04.5 downpipe?

I used an 04.5 up stock 4" down pipe & elbow. The stock 03 turbo was run at 30 psi & the HE351cw is set at 40 psi.

Will the the HE351 turbo bolt directly upto the stock 03-04 down pipe?

Or, is an 04.5-07 downpipe required?

If you use your stock elbow it will bolt right up.

How did you change the electronical controlls on the HE351 to make it like the manually controlled HE341?

I leave the solenoid unplugged & install an adjustable boost elbow in the compressor housing. Pic's of a similar install can be seen here:

I've been very happy with the HTB2 turbo in my sig. I do a lot of towing, so I wanted a turbo with absolutely NO surging, no matter how heavy I am pulling. Spool time is identical to the stocker but the mid and upper range power is noticeably higher, even with stock fueling.

With my "hot" Juice on level "5" (+150hp - 400 lb-ft torque) the stocker would spike 43-44 lbs of boost, but the power was flat and the EGT's would be 1400 before I even reached 6th gear. With the HTB2, The turbo pulls hard all the way to red-line and I'm at my red-line in 6th gear before EGT's hit 1450 unloaded.

Best thing is, it was a drop-in install and was even able to keep my turbo-mount Jake Brake, which was one of the top criteria in choosing this turbo.

What are the specs of the BD Special, compared to the BD Single?

I know the stock HE341 is:
54/58/9cm

I was thinking about swapping in a 04.5-07 HE351:
60/60/9cm

But, I think an aftermarket turbo would still be best.....just have to weigh the price of the $1300-$2000 turbo compared to finding a good HE351 for
$300-$400

I've had my 62/65/13ss installed for a few weeks now....absolutely wonderful...very close to stock spool, fast boost to max psi, pulls harder...max of 1350* at the track in the 1/4 mile (to 100mph)....it does smoke more, granted i'm running either beta 4.4 lvl 9 or tnt lvl 7....and it's already 85* in phoenix....

Would get the same turbo all over again.....and it can grow with my needs weather it's upgrade to a 64 housing or use on top with twins.....

Ordered an adjustable boost elbow so i can easily set max boost a little higher...it's maxing at 40psi right now...probably change it to 42/43psi....

Go for it....good stuff.

I've had my 62/65/13ss on for a year now, & I'm running TNT SW9 all the time. Even hauling my slide in camper I have no EGT problems unless I punch it on a 8% grade. I've hit 1560* once for a couple seconds. Passing a granola cruncher doing 45 in a 60 zone. The look on her face was priceless!
I think it's the best compromise for air/smoke/power you can get without going twins. And it will be good for that too someday.

So, how do I know if I have enough fueling?

I have my Smarty SR set on #7 and recently installed an Air Dog 150.

I 'might' be looking into an Arson II or the "Bag of Parts", but not sure yet.

After the turbo I do not plan on installing anything else for a while, performance-wise (like injectors, CP3s, etc)....
