I recently tapped for my pre turbo pyro probe in the manifold, I did not use a magnet, instead I taped the exhaust half way and let the chips fly out and used grease, my question is how do you tell if the turbo was damaged in any way, what warning signs, or things to look for????? I pulled the intake and the vanes spin freely, and look good, is it normal to have a very very slight discoloration at the tips of the vanes like a very very faint almost undedectable layer of dirt or soot? Is this normal wear? I am getting normal boost readings about 8 psi at 60 mph, is that right?

 

You didn't damage your turbo. That's how I drill pyros.
