Turbo *pic* is this o.k.?
Turbos have been on out of the truck and on the bench for about a week. The compressor wheel / impeller (I'm sure you guys are cringing, IDK the correct terminology) was clean when I took it off, and stayed clean the first few days as Iit was on the bench, and I was checking it out. It's been sitting for about a week, not sure in what position, now there is some oil that definitely came from within. Is this a problem, or typical?
Turbo bearing could be on its way. If you have had the truck for a long time then do you cool the urbo down to 300ºF before shutting down? Best way to make it last - yeah I know some people think it is a bit of a dick situation sitting there idling but it is your money that has to repair it. Friend bought a dodge RAM 2001 once and it was really gutless, he beat the guy up $$$ wise and put a new turbo on. Bingo away it went again. Most people that own them do not know how to look after a diesel powered vehicle - Mercedes, Ford, Chev and VW included.
