Triple Dog V2.3
Well, I broke down and tried one. The two main reasons I picked-up the new Triple Dog doesn't work on the SO auto trucks. The TM delete just does not work at all, although the option is there suggesting it does, and the low end power is no good because TM is still there and keeps screwing it up at each shift. It sounds like it works much better on the newer 3rd Gens though as they don't have as aggressive TM programming. Overall I'm a little disappointed. I did a review here: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6068
sry to bring up an old thread but i have to comment.
I finally got the Triple Dog last week and installed out of the box and i thought i loved it....i went to the track ready to beat my previous best times of 13.96 with my Juice/EZ stack but was very disappointed. with my Bullydog/EZ stack i only managed a 14.51 out of 6 good runs...i ran anywhere from 14.51-14.8 all 6 times...regardless if it was on Extreme or Performance or if the EZ was on 1 or 3.....didn't matter....i ran all configurations and got those results everytime.
Can anyone explain this to me?
disappointed i headed home for this new V2.3.....finally got it installed and selected low end option....stacked with my EZ...and HOLY CRAP! on Extreme, i turned a corner, punched it, and was sideways in no time. its lots faster around town....but does anyone know if its faster on the track??? i just can't wait til next friday for Texas Motorplex to be open again....
speaking of...any DFW members, you can pay $15 and run as many times as you would like. I ran 8 total times...6 good runs, 1 whitesmoke show, and 1 tow/economy just to test...and i also met a friendly duramax driver. I was only there for 2 hours...they are open 6 hours...6-12 friday nights...Texas Motorplex in Ennis. the lines were sooo short that i made 2 runs in 10 minutes! other times i stopped to talk.

lots of questions.
with the low end power option my tranny feels like it doenst shift near as hard and feels like its slipping, but i dont really know, since ive never owned an auto before. maybe im paranoid, but it just feels like my tranny is even mushier. GREAT power down low, but scared to WOT it because of the slippy feeling. does this tune change shift style? or is it like was mentioned earlier...partial throttle gets partial throttle shifts?. hope this makes sense. today i turned off the low end setting and set it to extreme with the triple dog and extreme on the outlook. good power, but NO smoke and a lean pop type pop from the exhaust when i let off. either a) between my BHAF and 5" short str8 pipe i am getting too much flow or b) my fuel system is not keeping up. so, basically i am asking...does everyones tranny feel weird on the low power setting and why am i popping all the sudden? also...when you plug in the triple dog and select a setting...i was told that your outlook only controls THAT setting. ( i.e. extreme on the tow setting or tow on the extreme setting ) is this correct? if so it would be like having sub levels am i right? i am less than impressed with the smoke output
i hate the low end option. i tried it once before and switched it back in a parking lot because i hate it so much. its a fun blast of power but just cruising my tranny acts funny...and i don't like it. its not mushy or anything since i have DTT stuff...but shifts awkwardly.
i have plenty of smoke, no popping....you have problems. call bullydog monday or find someone here that can help.
I read more and more about issues concerning the monitor...i just plug and play with mine and it works great.

i think its just a weird tune on the tranny. however, i made a few calls and i think im hearing turbo bark? never heard it before, but dont really thrash my rig. i figure, based on my lack of smoke, my fuel system probably isnt up to snuff to run WOT set on extreme/extreme. can anyone give a good description of turbo bark? its just a muffled POP when i either back off of it quickly or it runs into the red a bit. like i said i did it twice today, and i never run the truck hard, i just want to know what the deal is. thanks
turbo bark occurs when you let off the throttle completely and suddenly with a fairly high boost psi. say you are accelerating into traffic and get on it hard....then suddenly let off...it may bark then. It's not a pop, but its a hard sound to describe. its kinda like a woof woof...dog bark kinda. definitely not one single "pop"
great...so whats one single muffled sounding POP when backing off from a hard throttle application? not every time, like i said, just happened twice today while testing out the extreme mode. lack of fuel?
someone else need to charm in here.
but when did it pop? what speed? were you under WOT?
I've always had a FASS on my truck since i put anything aftermarket on it. lack of fuel is a good possibility considering you only experience it in extreme mode.

both times, i power braked a LITTLE...maybe 1800 to 2000 rpms and then stood on it and when the tires started to spin, i backed almost all the way off. BOTH times it was just as i was a few seconds into WOT its a muffled pop out of the exhaust, really similar to what a potato gun sounds like when you fire it. and like i said, no smoke...good power, but no smoke, leading me to belive its a lean type pop which i know isnt bueno.
is anyone having in codes with the new version (2.3.1)? I had one today and called bullydog, they had me take the vehicle back to stock and take it into my dealer (ECM/power code). I have a new mega cab 2006.
Thanks
Thanks
the check engine light came on, I can't remeber the code, I think it was p2405? (it said ECM/power). Bullydog rep told me to take it in, that some times the ECM has to be replaced on the mega cab, he said about 1 in 10 are having a bad ECM??
I called back and talked to the bullydog support tech and the guy told me that the 06 Cummins has an issue with the "Gateway Module." He told me it is causing the warning lights to come on and that if it happens again, to take it to the dealer and ask them to replace the gateway module. Has anyone heard of this?
When my check engine light came on, I am now a little gun shy to put the downloader back on my vehicle? What do you guys think?
