Transmission Temp Gauge installation
Transmission Temp Gauge installation
I'm not sure if I put the sending unit for the Transmission Temp Gauge in the correct place.
I have a 2004 with the 6speed manual transmission.
I couldn't find anywhere to mount that sending unit --except for in the back of the transfer case --I mounted it in the upper plug (maybe the fill plug). I just don't think that this is correct.
Going down the highway today (unloaded) at 70mph it finally got to 140degrees.
Is there a better place to mount the sending unit to get a more accurate temp reading?
Thanks
Mike

The tranny temp probe should go into the line that goes TO the tranny cooler, not the return line.
Massdiesel (on TDR) makes a custom tranny hose that has the probe bung built into it. It is $75.00 exchanged. After you put the new one on, you send him your old tranny line.
