Tranny Acting Goofy

Guys I need my stocker to last another month! As some of you know its been dying for a few months, I have turned smarty down to 3 and quad is on 0 to boost fool. The other day with a GVW of 28,000 my trans got up to 205 while I was intown, and It started acting BAD, it would shift from 1st to second and then I think Into 4th, but it was more like the TC locked up as soon as it went into 3rd, It was running 1000RPM as I pulled 20K and was driving 35MPH, the engine was lugged down pretty bad pouring smoke and causing a big scene. I shifted into 2 and it cooled down a bit. After I unloaded and it cooled down the trans acted totally normal. What does this? And can I get another month out of it?

If i fry it is it going to cost me more to buy a built trans?

Well, I would do what you are doing. Keep the RPM up and manually shift when towing.

I would take it in a get it done before it spreads shrapnel though the whole trans. In the mean time deSmarty it. I have found that the smarty cause it to shift at a lower RPM (more so with higher TMs).

If you are towing heavy and needing to go slow try 4 low. I have had to do this a few times if you are going too slow for the TC to lockup.

Detune it back to stock and then keep the RPM's up.

yeah thats what i was wondering, if you are having tranny problems why in the world would you add more power than stock to the truck, that will just make it worse.
