Was that a billet output shaft? I know you said it was not when you were refering to the t-case shaft, but I was wondering if your trans shaft was.

How is it that my old '550' RWP Twinned Duramax went 12.2 @109.44 (EXT 4x4 LB 7580lbs)
when an 850RWHP Dodge runs the same time?

Granted the CTD weighs slightly more, but not enough to trap that close.

Theres a little more to HP-1/4 time comparisons than my truck ran "X" time with 550 HP.... so should yours.

What were his 60,330, 1/8 times? That will let you know who had the better hook from the line and the best gearing. The correct gearing will make a big difference in the ET but horsepower reigns king past the 1/8th.

With that in mind, the trap MPH is a good indicator of HP. Hitting 112's takes a lot of power with that big ol' windsail trying to punch a hole in the atmosphere. I agree, 800 is optimistic but not too far off.

Well. My old '550' RWHP Duramax .... it would only ever dyno 550. I kid you not. But with ET/ Weight calc's and Trap times we figured it to be in the 675- 700RWHP arena. My Duramax did not dyno well is all. That goes for most duramaxes out there.
BTW, the 12.2 time was with an ultra-pathetic 7psig boosted launch, with a 2.3 sec 60 foot time. Truck was 3.73 equipped as well. I would have to find the slip, but 700-750 sounds right for your times.... but if it's a handshaker, oh wow i am jealous! My times were with an automatic

Yeah, I am kind of in the same boat, I think my truck did not dyno so well either. It was a HP challenge and they let the engine die down to 1k then mash it. The turbo was below 10PSI boost until 2k.

Anyway, the HP calculator at CompD seems to be close for the trap speed calculator. It said 742HP for him and I think thats more realistic. I am a nitwit though so this is just my opinion.

D-Maxes are fast..... too fast if you ask me. My good friend has a LB7 with a PPE, TQ converter, shift kit and a few other supporting mods and he is a major thorn in my side. He gets me from a dig but from a roll I get him all the time. They just have a good, all around package for racing. I mess with him all the time, I say he has the Honda Civic of the diesel world. Its light, exhaust sounds terrible, and blows up every 3rd run.

Yeah I would say he is in the 720-740 range.....I have pretty much the same truck (actually mine should weight more) and I trap 112.05 with about 710 on fuel with a handshaker

Well in drag racing every (at least in gassers) every 100lbs equals .10 sec, so a 1000lbs more you need a least an extra 150-200hp more to run the same times

Does the "calculator" even take in tq as a consideration? It seems that two trucks weighing the same, one with a gasser that is 700hp/700tq and one with a diesel that is 700hp/1400tq, the diesel will definately go faster. Right???

Sounds like you need to strap it down to the rollers and prove these guys wrong.

Sorry to hear about your broken shafts but it was expected at your level. I was hoping they would hold for a little bit but I guess holding back a 8k lb 800whp Cummins at 20psi in 4wd is gonna break stock shafts.

Throw in some billet shafts and and I know you will be in the 11's with the right 60ft and tuning combo.

Way to GET IT at the track

Oh, you know I will be dyno'ing soon... I used about five different HP calculators I found and got five different answers... just like I'd get five different answers from dynos...

One undeniable truth...there's a lot of power there and I have more on tap that I didn't get to...and the track was really hot that day... so 11's are possible under better conditions and a little better tuning. To put it in perspective, none of the other launches I did produced any wheelspin (except the 2nd gear chirps)... with the old set up I had, I hopped like crazy off the line. I also need to get better at running/managing the truck down the track...
