Cool Those with CoolTwist intercooler

I'm looking for a new intercooler and leaning towards the City Diesel one. I have one of the lucky 05 models with the plastic tanks. How was the install? Was it worth it? Does it come with boots or can the stock ones be used?

I'm torn between the BD, and City Diesel. I need some opinions! Thanks for the help!!

I have the BD intercooler, install took about 30 minutes. Came with everything. So far I love it. I dont think you can go wrong between the two from what i have seen. I thinks its gonna come down to your personal opinion. But looks like your on the right track though if your choosing between those two you mentioned. Good luck.

I have a Cool Twist...

I needed "special" sized inlets/outlets...so it was worth it.

Install is easy...unless you have a Grill Guard. Still....just a few skinned knuckles...and not too bad.

I have a perfect condition OEM all metal intercooler....if your interested in a 40% as expensive solution

PM me.

I have the cool twist hoses hooked right up but if you have the tow hooks you will have to grind the brackets to clear the side tanks, watch to make sure on your core support that the welds on the side tanks dont hit, you could rub a hole in the weld. otherwise all went well

Dont mean to hijack but how can you tell that your end caps arent plastic?

Mine, sound (tap it with a wrench) and feel like metal but look like plastic and a magnet wont stick. Aluminum?

The plastic tanks have a waffle like pattern. Webing for strength I'm assuming. The metal is all smooth.

T-boe- I researched Spearco and couldn't find good or bad. Looking at how long it is, I would think the install would not go as smooth. It looks as if it goes down behind the bumper. What good does the extra size do for you behind an object, away from air flow. Also, if I'm spending $1,300 I'm going with what is known and proven.

I didn't put Banks on the list for various reason. The main was the fact they look as if they are powdercoated. That, I assume would take away from it's efficiency.

Wap, the plastic intercoolers have little tabs on the core that bend over the plastic tanks base and hold it on the core.
the metal intercoolers have welds instead of tab's

clear as mud??
