What a bunch of bs. Lets see some proof that dino has better soot suspension properties than syn... Plus soot suspension is such a short sighted argument..look at most UOA's (even in modded trucks)and you'll see, especially with ULSD making far less soot, the end of an oil's life is rarely due to soot levels. Wear metals, tbn, and other factors add up a lot more quickly. Lastly, even if all their bs WAS true, syn protects the engine better and at the end of the day I'd rather wear out a turbo than my engine...

Less Sulfur in the fuel has no effect on soot.

The life of the oil isn't the issue either. It's not usually too much soot suspended in the oil that causes problems, it's when the oil isn't capable of suspending the soot.

I'd love to see any info supporting the two statements you just made. I think the epa would have several things to say in response to your statment that ulsd produces the same amount of soot

More or less smoke is subjective although I do believe it's reduced. You can laugh and take the antagonistic route if you like, but seeing less soot in UOA's is not subjective

I haven't seen any less soot in my own UOA's.

Do some reading and you'll see the main reason Sulfur was reduced in our fuel. It wasn't to produce less soot directly, it was done so emission control devices (such as particulate filters) could operate properly.

Yes, I understand fully. What is it you think that could be clogging those particulate filters? It could possibly be bananas, but I think eddie murphy is busier than that.

And you said jrussell was antagonistic, talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Speaking of that, do you know why the pot was black? It was soot and most of the soot is unburnt fuel, in the case of the diesel engine it is unburnt diesel fuel. The sulfur in the fuel does not change the level of soot production but can change the durability of the soot. More sulfur makes it something that can not be burnt off in re generation.

Can some one provide documentation that Turbo manufacturers are makeing these claims? I just off the phone with the VP of royal purple and he asked for supporting documents to this claim so they can dispute it as the detergents in RP do suspend soot particals.

Well what Turbo company's are claiming it. So far all I have seen is some one say that they were told by HTT are they the only ones if not then who else? Not trying to argue trying to get to the facts. So far no one has supported the claims made. Just seems like alot of people taking one persons statment as fact.

Camperandy, welcome to the forum buddy.. what I wrote was humor, not antagonism..trying to lighten the vibe that jrussell set when he got all in a huff. Your post is only perpetuating/trolling for more drama and I'm not biting. It's clear you guys have a partial understanding of the relationship of sulfur in diesel fuel, and go ahead and run with that..makes no difference to me

That said, jrussels diversion is beside the point. Can anyone actually provide provide proof that dino oils suspend soot better than syn? On a non soot related note, synthetic oils are clearly documented to handle high temperatures better than dino, which helps the turbo in terms of coking.

I don't see anyone having an arguing match. I would call it a discussion.

Well as you said HTT would be one. If I had to take a wild guess on the 2nd one, I would say it's probably II.

How exactly do you expect any of us here to prove the claims made by those companies? You want a sound clip of the phone call or something?
